My last story for the Indiana Daily Student published earlier this week, and it was one of the most difficult, but rewarding, stories I’ve worked on so far in my career.

The two-part piece is the result of a six-month investigation involving 12 IDS reporters and editors. It delves into safety and quality of care concerns at Bloomington Meadows Hospital, one of the largest acute mental health facilities in southern Indiana. We spent months talking to former patients and their families, combing through police records and analyzing federal inspections for this investigation. You can give the story a read at the link in my bio. And a special thanks to the amazing reporters who spent months working on it.

This story’s publication also officially wraps up my time at the IDS. Over my four years here, I reported over 200 stories (and edited hundreds of others across my six semesters of editing). The IDS has taught me so much about how to be a journalist and leader, and I will miss it very much — but be sure to follow @idsnews to continue following the staff’s amazing student journalism for the many years to come!
