Hello melanin Kings and Queens! My name is Kiara Everett (call me Ki, Kiara Marie, or just Kiara). I was born and raised in the great city of Durham and still continuing to grow here! I currently work as a Substance Use Counselor; however, my degrees are in Social Work. I would describe myself as giving, driven, and an all around GLOW-GETTER! Here are 5 fun facts about me: 1. I’ve never seen Boyz in the Hood movie 2. My favorite places to travel are California and New Orleans 3. My favorite food is pepperoni pizza, but I’ve been free of beef & pork since January 1 💪🏾 4. Favorite rappers: Nicki & Wale 5. I LOVE GOD! 🙌🏾 There’s way too much to list about me, but if you stay tuned, you’ll learn even more of the truth about who stands behind the brand. I originally had a desire to start a podcast. I also have a passion to write, so I figured, why not put the two together? Smart idea right? I created this blog for the plethora of overwhelming love I have for black women and men. Majority of the lifestyle blogs on social media are tailored toward women (well you know what the Queen Bey says: “Who run the world? GIRLS”)! Now melanin women, we can’t forget about our fine black men of all flavors. My brothas need some love too; I mean more than just “some” love. While this blog will be solely for the upbringing of our black community, please know that there is absolutely NO discriminatory or racial biases; I just believe we’re long overdue for a platform dedicated to our experiences. Whew baby! When I say spicy topics, they will have you at the edge of your seat. We’re talking all from friendships, relationships, intimacy, the 90-day rule, double standards, black men in corporate America, black men out here trying to make it, so called “dead beats”, career-oriented women, what some would call “low life” women, mental health, spiritual beliefs, etc. We’re laying it all out and want to hear from you! I sincerely regret to inform you that this platform will be professionally produced, while also getting down to the nitty gritty. Please refrain from any judgment, negativity, and harmful actions, as we want to remain open-minded. Follow @hellamoodtheblog
