2018. Deth Crux poster (swipe to see second color variant).

All the swirly colors in the neon version were an accident. When I was scanning my paper/ink drawing, rubbish from an eraser clung to the surface and only showed up when I was experimenting with digital effects. I thought it looked cool so I colorized it for this Cybersex LSD trip variant 🫨

Deth Crux - Mutant Flesh

Magenta / Black Merge LP

Brooding gothic rock twisted with a gritty deathrock / punk vibe. Channeling much of the gloomy sound of legends like Sisters Of Mercy or Christian Death, but taking it to a modern place, Deth Crux represents a new breed / life in the genre. Made sinister with the dystopian backing and lyrics, the band explores new alleyways haunted with dim horrors. At once running toward and from a doomed life, much of the album has a feral intent.

The vocals are an evocative baritone, representing a pitch black focal point and attention to the urgent songs. They are backed by majestic guitars that energetically tear across the album, as well as tensioned bass and drums. As with music of this type, the powerful romanticism and seductive nature that is intertwined into each track adds a duality of both a spirited vitality and morose sulking to the atmosphere.

As with many artists that occupy this space, there is a distinct metal-adjacent pull to the noir aura of this album.

So I had the honor of shooting Christmas Bloody Christmas but my band @dethcrux also wrote a song for the movie. I don’t know if it’ll ever happen again but it’s pretty rad to shoot a movie that you also get to have a song in. #blessed ha! It’s been a wild year.

Day 3. Deth Crux - Mutant Flesh
.
