Since 2015, we’ve helped shape a new era of American Design—understated, effortless, and grounded in what we call The Art of Casual Living. When we opened our Studio–Showroom–Café in Dumbo in 2022, we saw the neighborhood’s potential to become a hub of creative energy—the Dumbo Design District. Today, in 2025, that vision has taken root—not just for us, but for the city, and for the movement we call New American Design. Last year, during @nycxdesign, we hosted our first panel, Sense and Space—a salon-style conversation exploring the dialogue between public and private environments. This year, we have even more planned. We’re excited to welcome you into our world once again, and to gather some of the most creative minds in New York. Photos by @minivanboy666

I realized it was all a mirage. I’ve done a fair amount of psychedelics and ceremonies. I do understand that time is non-linear. Indie sleaze Lykke Li @lykkeli in the Special Armani Editorial covers Lampoon #30, The Raw Issue. Photography Kobe Wagstaff @kobewagstaff and styling Tamia Mathis @tamiamathis When you start to go deep into your life and yourself, the more layers you uncover, you go back to the beginning of your lifetime, when you were born. The more therapy you do, the closer you are to your inner child. As a grown woman, I try as much as I can to hold the hand of this little girl that got so hurt at a very young age. Doing psychedelics is like living in black and white for all your life and then suddenly it turns to color. Or, imagine you live in silence and then someone turns on The Grateful Dead. When you’re in that space, you realize everyone’s been there too. Hello Jimi Hendrix. Hello Beatles. Hello Salvador Dalì. In a way, that’s the place where you go when you create so it’s almost a familiar place. I love having that down low. Extract from an interview with Lykke Li on #Lampoon30. Lykke Li @lykkeli in the Special Armani Editorial covers Lampoon #30, The Raw Issue. Photography Kobe Wagstaff @kobewagstaff and styling Tamia Mathis @tamiamathis The 30th issue of Lampoon – the seventh of eight covers: Lykke Li in Emporio Armani Get your copy at lampoonmagazine.com Our narrative begins with architects in Milan during the 1950s and 60s, when they reinvented the city's identity. Fascism had demolished bourgeois and working-class buildings from the late 19th century to make room for new, wide, arcaded streets, designed for volumes before lines. The ‘miracle’ of Milan erupted. The devastation of the city center had been the destruction of a defeated dictatorship – but from this visceral void, energy burst forth like fireworks. Lampoon draws its narrative references from here – finding inspiration in the English concept of “narrative” or “storytelling” – recognizing the architects of those years as our first masters: Gio Ponti, Giovanni Muzio, the BBPR studio of Torre Velasca – and those who brought the inventions of Frank Lloyd Wright and Mies van der Rohe to Italy. A desk surrounded by books and newspapers – yet in perfect order. The confidence in expressing itself, the uniqueness of its signature: an architect's hand-drawn sketch manages to convey a flavor, a context – the pressure of the pencil, the finishing details capture an entire world: notes remain in the margins, mistakes are signposts, corrections are unnecessary.
