⠀
• Showtek’s familiar influences are here!⠀
• Energetic drops with a Brazilian theme⠀
• Featuring Booyah’s famous singer, Sonny Wilson⠀
⠀
Both Willem and Ward have evolved a lot since they produced Bigroom in 2013… They had experimented with genres likes Happy Hardcore, Future House, Progressive House, Trance, Trap, and we can going on for a while!⠀
⠀
Since I’ve been following them for almost 9 years, I discovered that my beloved Breda pair has been photographed with the mastermind of “Booyah“, Showtek! However, this Showtek-sounding release is with an unknown duo called The Lost Shepherd and the Dutch reggae vocalist Sonny Wilson, who is notorious for the ‘Booyah’ vocal, but he also has worked with other artists like David Guetta, Badd Dimes, MR BLACK and Showtek’s best friend, Eva Shaw. Surprise surprise!⠀
⠀
“São Paulo” also hides another fun fact about the Breda duo. Do you remember when Hardwell interviewed them during a special episode of Hardwell On Air back in 2017? He said that ‘Live The Night’ was made somewhere in Brazil, specifically in São Paulo during the tour back in 2013. Every collabs they made had its own story and I assume that they picked this title in honor of that moment.⠀
⠀
Fast forward today, “São Paulo”‘s concept has heavy similarities with the classic ‘Booyah’, starting with Sonny’s vocals. It took a few seconds before the blazing horn came. Next, the buildup reaches its destination to the drop.⠀
⠀
Coming to the break, the quartet added refreshing drum & bass with a couple of piano keys as Sonny sings all about the fantasy of the title city. There’s “Booyah” everywhere, from the lead to the pre-drop climax, with a surprising drum’n bass twist in the central segment!⠀
⠀
Concluding, “São Paulo” wasn’t as aggressive as the 2013 hit, but I must say that the creatores lightened up the beat, differenciating it enough, making a fun release. I am glad they took the influence from the classic and redesigned it into a new version, better suited for this decade.⠀

@axmomusic X @kevumusic - Ravergy⠀

• Highly awaited ID⠀
• Strongly supported by W&W⠀
• Unexpected Big Room synergy⠀
⠀
Lately, Rave Culture has expanded in the market and made remarkable progress with top-notch releases. This year, we have already seen multiple collaborations, namely Sandro Silva, Wiwek, and finally the launch of the darker and dystopian-mooded sub-label made by W&W in their NWYR outfit, called “Lone Ranger”.⠀
⠀
But today, both reputed acts from the roster, AXMO and KEVU, revealed “Ravergy” which was rotated heavily during the end of 2021. The first world premiere came from the label-bosses themselves during the AME, followed by KEVU’s liveset for Revealed recordings. This was an outcome that was heavily teased by AXMO in their socials, a pair climbing steadily in the scene. Sharing a residence with the other half at the newly built studio over in Portugal, the synergy came to fruition and hence was heavily expected by the fans.⠀
⠀
AXMO released over eleven songs the previous year, dabbling creatively with high-octane styles such as Big Room, Trance, Future Rave and more. The Portuguese alias, on the other hand, made team efforts recently with another established Germany-based dyad, Jaxx & Vega for “Raver Zone” followed by “Mystery” alongside SixCap [...].⠀
⠀
Getting into technicalities, “Ravergy” gets into 128-130 BPM of pacing, containing two gigantic drops, lasting over 4 mins. The first one is layered with a kick analogous to the one used in “Big Room Never Dies”. The pre-drop vocal fill heightens the insanity and ruckus by wishing raves are back during these dire times, an energetic shout that pops right with the intensity needed. In the following one, AXMO takes over the stage with their instantly recognizable “Tranceroom” kick-drums, adding their own twists.⠀
⠀
“Ravergy”, in my opinion, is just the start of a massive year that is awaiting for RC. Both AXMO and KEVU did fantastic jobs in this get-together, hoping the two mix and match with other talented names on the mentioned label for more striking results!⠀

Today, I would like to talk about one interesting ID that has been laid as an unreleased single by 2 of the most famous best friends in the electronic music scene. Julian Jordan and Martin Garrix collabed together a couple of times on both early tracks in their career and some recent ones including “BFAM” and “Welcome” . One of their most famous IDs is a track called ‘How We Rave' that was supposed to come out between 2014 and 2015 as it was most notably played by Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike during their 2014 edition of Bringing Home The Madness. However, he and Martijn had promised to work together. They both sat down in the studio 7 years ago and tried to make a follow up to ‘BFAM’.

The beginning of the track starts with a 15 second simple plucky break followed by the characteristic bigroom house supersaws. The pre drop vocal is also characteristic for bigroom house as the majority of the tracks, even nowadays, include the same style of vocals. This one in particular screams “This is how we f***ing rave!”. Speaking about the drop, it is by far one of the most aggressive drops Martin Garrix has ever made, only tracks like “Tremor” and “Turn Up The Speakers” beating it. The drop is clearly inspired by the golden era days since it keeps that minimalistic but energetic approach and introduces a rather simplistic melody.

As years passed by, Julian kept releasing singles and collabs here and there until he left Spinnin’ due to contract disagreement and joined Armada by establishing his own label, Goldkid. Not even a year later, he refused to continue his partnership with Armada as he signed to Martin’s label STMPD RCRDS where he became an important part of the ever expanding roster and since then he evolved his sound describing it as “hyper house” in which he combines bass house with some darker elements of his. There isn’t much to be said about Martin that we already don’t know though. 3 times #1 DJ in the world, numerous famous singles, a 1 billion stream track in “In The Name Of Love”, his legacy continues onwards.

@tiesto & @wandwmusic - The Sound Of Rotterdam

2018 was a year where you could expect huge things from Dutch bigroom DJs like Hardwell, Blasterjaxx, Quintino, Bassjackers and so much more. During that year, a huge piece of news came out from the Dutch legend Tiesto when he surprisinglybteamed up with the Breda duo, W&W. In the last couple of years prior to 2018 Tiesto fully embraced the sounds of commercial EDM and left the trance sound for good. Same goes for both Willem and Wardt who released trance early in their career before breaking through with ‘Bigfoot’ in 2014. When a joint collaboration happened, everyone
expected that they would blend their styles in a recognizable bigroom house fashion. Tiesto had already worked on bigroom with numerous artists like The Chainsmokers,
DallasK, MOTi, John Christian and the duo also released a couple of extraordinary tracks such as, ‘Live The Night’, ‘Put Em Up’, ‘Carribean Rave’ and etc.

Well, the initial plan took place back in 2015. Wardt on behalf of W&W had told the interviewer that Tiesto approached and asked them for a collaboration. They accepted
his proposal but the only reason that the project has not started is because of a hecticbschedule of tours until the three of them sat in the studio and worked on a track together. The project was 90% done and they couldn’t decide whether they should play the track live or not.

The moment Tiesto premiered the collaboration was at Ultra Music Festival in 2018 in which he publicly announced he will play his new track with W&W. They sampled the track from Serious Danger titled ‘Deeper’. Also, the same sample was used in ‘Liquid is Liquid’ by German electronic band, Scooter. It is logical to say Tiesto & W&W have crafted another solid bigroom remake of ‘Deeper’.

Track in itself isn’t that impressive musically. It does its job well in maintaining the energy throughout but all in all it’s a bigroom remake of the aforementioned classic by Serious Danger.
