Right now at the @burchfieldpenney, there’s a formal jacket that tells a decade-plus of stories.

It’s called “Building Blocks,” and it’s part of FIT: Buffalo Fashion, Identity, and Transformation, on view through November 1. The jacket is made entirely of embroidery samplers, dozens of them, each one representing a Stitch Buffalo artist from across our history. Every stitch on this piece came from a different hand, a different artist, a different point in her own creative journey.

In this video, Devin walks you through how these samplers actually come together, from individual pieces of practice work to something layered into a single, wearable piece of art.

“Building Blocks” is on display now as part of FIT at the Burchfield Penney. Go see it in person, it’s even better up close. 🧵

Screens off. Stitches in. 🪡

Our studio team shares the projects that help them reset. For Devin, it’s sashiko and slow stitching. For Dawne, it’s her “Darning Life” project.

All of it finds a home in our new analog bags, made by the artists of the Refugee Women’s Workshop and available in our store.

What’s in your analog bag?

For those days when the temperature isn’t the same as when you left the house in the morning…🌷

These are the layers we reach for.
