My Trip and @skater_made_east Tour in Japan was Amazing & Radical, ‘SUGOI’ y ‘YABAI’!! Non-stop one month adventure that felt like a year and went in a blink of time. Three Art Show weekends in three separate regions of Japan with my Japanese counterpart & creative assassin Toshi Nozaka. There were twelve days that included skateboarding of some kind & exposure to five different regions of wonder & histories from another kind.

It took me so long to get to Japan & this trip made me understand why. My appreciation is to the fullest with grateful love. Much respect & love to you all. It was important for me to visit a shrine & temple during my visit in Japan. I was fortunate to get to a few with the help of my friends. Here are some photos of the main ones I got to.

First was Mt. Pon-Pon Temple located in Takatsuki, Osaka Japan. Built in 770, rebuilt during the end of the 1700’s after a massive fire in their surrounding mountains.

Second group of photos are from Todai-Ji, a historic Buddhist temple in Nara, Japan. Completed in 725 CE. Famous for housing one of the world’s largest bronze Buddha statues inside the Daibutsuden (great Buddha hall), which is one of the largest wooden buildings in the world at approximately 200 ft. tall.

Third set is the Ise Jingu Shrine, located in Ise, MIE prefecture. Japans most sacred Shinto shrine, established over 2000 years ago. This holy sanctuary serves as the spiritual heart of Shinto & houses the sacred mirror. Dedicated to the solar goddess Amaterasu Omikami & the grain goddess Toyouke-hime.

My interest in origins has stemmed since my childhood & the roots in all have always been fascinating. That being said, thought it might be interesting to share some info. I found about my birth given first name, some years ago.

The name ‘Bartol’ itself, historically attached, is a male gender name. Meanings associated w/ Son of Talmai in Croatian and ‘Ploughman’ in Aramaic. Those bearing the name ‘Bartol’ have been known to love change & challenges, but take too many risks. Numerically, shown as progressive, free thinking, exciting, fun loging and sexual.

Astrologically each letter represents an occurrence:

Todays my Birf’day .. and in what seems to have become a bit of a tradition since joining the 50+ club, I put together a new little edit for ‘56’. After my four days in Osaka @raion.hot.sauce was kind enough to take me to the coastal area of the beautiful place called ‘MIE’, to physically meet my long time skateboarding family @devo0912 and his wife. After driving through the lush countryside hills of Japan we arrived at a private session with Hokkai-San of ‘Terretoris.diy’. Hokkai is a local MIE D.I.Y. and skateboard park builder, amongst other things. I was fortunate the rain stopped long enough for us to session together and share stories.

Here are a few clips from our first encounter. Big thanks to Yolski-San for his determination in making this happen. Love and respect to Zevo, MxM, Hokkai and the people of MIE for sharing a little quality time with me on my busy schedule!!
