On the road now for many weeks and missing my family. This picture popped up recently and brought the sweetest memories and feels –– as @devonmakena has been my steadfast pal through many a challenging adventure. She is a deeply dependable friend, a longtime activist, a fine musician and an actor’s actor. Her assistance to me as an utterly believable off-camera reader has often given me a leg up in my self-taped auditions for work. Not only does she come with wise insights, but Devon is kind. And willing to absorb the pain of our mutual obsession to chase the thing down until there’s no longer any sense that we could do it better –– even if it takes hours. Many blessings have come to Leslie and me over the course of our marriage, but none deeper than the shining children with whom we are sharing these all too quickly passing days. They are the core of our greatest good fortune.

The whole Martinez family is gonna take the stage in Dakota’s live music show in Venice this Saturday evening, and I hope you can join us. It’s his birthday weekend, and he has asked me to sing a Don Henley ballad about fatherhood that stands as one of my favorite songs ever. A lot of shining spirits will be there and we’d love to see you if you can make it. Ticket link is in my bio.

Repost @dakotalmartinez: Hi everyone 👋 I’m Dakota and it’s my birthday 🎉 I have been so lucky to be surrounded by kind, diligent folks whose music I love. I am really excited to get to share some of their music with you all this Saturday night! The evening will feature a combination of artists I have met along the way and family who have been there all along. I’m excited for y’all to get to hear the Martinez family sing some of our favorites, my buddies Dillon Tucker and Caleb Veazey share some of their finely crafted originals, and to feature my little sister, Ren Martinez, who is releasing her debut full length album this year! I am of course thoroughly biased, but Ren’s music is extremely lovable and I’m really excited to get to share it with the community. The evening will have live music, but it is focused on community, connection and celebration. As such, there will be ample time to mingle and talk both before, after and between the two sets. I’ll also be sprinkling in a couple of my new original songs and a special cover I’ve added to my repertoire this year. I would be honored to have you join me for the celebration of the end of the 39th (and beginning of my 40th!) trip around the sun!

Day 98 of SAG-AFTRA Strike 2023

I recently had the thought… I hope I never have to be apart of another Strike like this in my lifetime. So I should take some pictures to document this historic moment. Here’s some from the last few weeks. The fight continues…

Oh and if you’re tired about hearing about the strikes…same
