4 weeks of ArtPrize has now come to a close! It was a great opportunity to showcase my work, make new connections and see how vibrant the art scene is now in Grand Rapids. It was definitely an unforgettable experience, one I’d consider doing every year if I get the chance. Very happy to close ArtPrize with my sisters @staciraeluca and @__elainey__ who had to fly all the way from SD to see my work and wanted to see @meijergardens so we did and had a blast, despite our weak knees 🤣. Congratulations to all the awardees especially the public vote grand winner @architectkristin and @maribarros_art for winning the Latina artist community award! Congrats also to @rccaylanatelierofficial for breaking the world record for most attended fashion show! ArtPrize and this past month has reminded me to keep dreaming, working and improving ‘coz u never know what doors the universe will open for u. Again, can’t thank @devosplace, Eddie Tadlock & Brittany DeVos enough for the opportunity. And oh yeah, got to see Heisenberg @bryancranston in the flesh. @artprize #art #breakingbad #balikbayanbox

I WAS HERE
Encounters with Madonna with Lost Child

Some encounters I was there to see.
Others reached me through photographs after I had returned to Italy.

As ArtPrize comes to a close, I’m bringing these moments together — a little collection of the people who shared part of this experience with the six Madonnas at DeVos Place.

I keep thinking about the conversations, the questions, the details someone noticed that opened up a whole new exchange. Those moments have stayed with me, across the distance.

Thank you to everyone who stopped to look, shared a thought, sent a photograph, or helped make this experience possible. And to those whose encounters left no photograph — thank you for being there, too.

These images are a small part of what I’m taking home from Grand Rapids. Even if the Madonnas aren’t coming home just yet.

Madonna with Lost Child will continue its journey…
Stay tuned.
