On 16th August 2026, Progressive Artists' League organized "Echoes of The Movement", an exhibition of paintings, poems, and video montages created by artists around the country in recent protests against paper leaks.

We believe it is the responsibility of a genuine artist to reflect the reality in their work. Living in the dark times, under the reign of fascists, one cannot stay unaffected. This is why artists, writers, poets, rappers, and musicians created songs and artworks about the movement, about students, and expressed their frustration and anger, and raised the issue in their respective forms. The protest was a site where people who never picked up brushes were making posters, and who never sang were learning the songs of resistance so that their voice reached more people.

Submitted artworks, paintings, digital paintigs, cartoons, animated reels, photographs taken during recent student protests were displayed along with the classic paintings of resistance from the chittoprasad and Somnath Hore's work, student movement posters in 68's France, and artworks made during anti-CAA-NRC protests. Artists discussed different importance of and roles played by short form and long form artworks and shared their experience of learning and creating at the protest site. Suggestions and criticisms on the different artworks were welcomed by respective artists and a resolve was made to carry forward the zeal and enthusiasm in this movement and collectively create more such artworks in the future.

We appreciate the efforts of the artists around the country who submitted their artworks and hope to organize more such discussions and exhibitions on various contemporary issues, as well as have a dialogue on various debates that have taken place in the arena of art.
