Black roots, Black rhythms, Black expressions. Come with me to @BlackAmericanaFest 2026! 🪕✨

@BlackAmericanaFest is a two-day music and culture festival in New Orleans that honors Black folk music and traditions. Co-founded by music artist, @DuskyWaters, the experience is rooted in the love of all things Black Americana. There was something sacred about this festival that restored something in my spirit I didn’t know I needed. With the climate of the country, it felt good to be reminded this country is ours too. We built it, and we should stand proud in how far our people have come.

Thank you to Dusky Waters and the entire team, for creating a space where our culture could be felt, heard, and celebrated. I look forward to joining you all again next year! 🫶🏾✨

Dear World, please remember that the most powerful advocacy work comes from those directly impacted by the issues. Keep going, we got this. 🌀✨

Dear Self, let’s check-in on the world today. 🧘🏾‍♀️🌀✨

The climate of the world feels very heavy right now, please remember to take a moment to pause and recenter yourself.

Sending love to everyone that’s processing what’s happening in our country right now. 🫶🏾

As Prostate Cancer Awareness Month comes to a close, this conversation should not. Men, especially Black men, we want you to remain at the table. 💙

This month, I developed “Still At The Table,” an immersive awareness activation with Bethany United Methodist Church centered on presence, care, and the lives we want men to continue living fully.

On Sunday, we gathered “at the table” in light blue, carrying that message through visual storytelling, an original poem by @devthefilmmaker, and powerful testimonies from prostate cancer survivors Mr. Julian Jackson and Mr. Gary Huntley. The month may be ending, but the work of keeping our men here, healthy, present, and at the table continues.

Men, go to the doctor. Schedule the appointment. Ask the questions. Know your numbers. There is still something for you here. Stay with us. Remain at the table.

Grateful to Bethany for trusting @themaraagency to help bring this moment to life. ✨

One Thing About My T-Debbie 🌀🌹🕊️🫶🏾

One thing about my T-Debbie,
she was going to be herself.

She was going to love you loudly,
laugh from somewhere deep,
say exactly what she meant,
and leave you with a story to tell.

One thing about my T-Debbie,
you always knew she was there.

Her presence had weight,
her love had its own language,
and her spirit filled every room she entered.

One thing about my T-Debbie, she and I shared something special.

We were the enfant de lunes of the family,
two spirits with our own rhythm,
our own way of seeing the world,
and a bond that somehow understood itself,
before I even knew what a bond was.

One thing about my T-Debbie,
she was unforgettable.

She was family in the fullest sense of the word,
woven into our memories,

our laughter,
our traditions,
and the pieces of ourselves we carry forward.

And one thing about us,
we will never forget her.

Her life.
Her love.
Her legacy.

Forever my T-Debbie. ♥️

Rest Well, My Fellow Enfant De Lune 🌹🌙

frequency 001: @duskywaters

For our first transmission, we sat with New Orleans singer-songwriter Dusky Waters to explore sound, story, creative lineage, and the frequencies that shape her work.

Part conversation. Part performance. Part archive.

f r e q u e n c y t h e s e r i e s is a living documentation of artists in their element, preserving not only what they create, but what moves beneath it.

Two weeks ago, The Artifact was released. 🌀🎥🎞️🎬

What began as an “understanding spiral” became an exploration of New Orleans, who she became, where her people stand, what remains within us 21 years following the portal of Hurricane Katrina, and where we go from here.

Two weeks later, the questions remain.

If you’ve watched The Artifact, what stayed with you? What did it make you question, reconsider, remember, or understand differently?

If you haven’t watched yet, this is your invitation.

Watch The Artifact: A Hurricane Katrina Remembrance Story, now streaming on YouTube.

Then come back and tell us: What remains? 🌀
