Full circle moments. My eldest sister was a Queen in the Debutante Ball in 2001, while I was her Rosebud. I became a Duchess while our sister Kevonna was a Princess. Kevonna passed away during her senior year of high school, prior to her ball, so we laid her to rest in her Queen gown. In 2010, it was my turn to wear the white gown. This year I was invited back as the Mistress of Ceremonies. My niece had the opportunity to witness a proud family tradition. In typical Dionnie fashion, I caught the attention of a beautiful baby girl. The legacy of the Colors of the World Debutante Ball is strong. Thank you to the work of Mrs. Barbara DePass and Mr. Trevor DePass over the last 26 years.
