We were with family the last week and Californias Central Valley heat is no joke. Triple digit summer days kept us by the pool and these kids swimming every day. Made memories and tried not to melt but it was like a sauna ☀️💦

After a lifetime of answering God’s call, this chapter comes to a close but the impact never will.

Our dad’s ministry was never just what he did but who he is. His retirement marks the end of his role as a full-time pastor, but his legacy will continue through every life touched and every person inspired.

June 7th marked my dad’s final blessing as a pastor in the United Methodist Church. Today, he was honored at the Cal-Nev Annual Conference as he officially retires after more than 45 years of faithful ministry.
It’s taken me some time to post this because… what do you even say? How do you sum up a lifetime of faithfulness?
What I know is this: from the moment God called my dad into ministry, he never wavered. He loved the Church, served people, preached Christ, and remained faithful through every season. His life has always pointed people to Jesus.
What isn’t pictured but is impossible to separate from his story… is my mum. She has been the quiet strength behind it all. She didn’t lead from the spotlight but through humble, faithful service. She held our family together, cared for countless people, and loved the Bride of Christ just as deeply. Their ministries have always been one ministry.
Mum and Dad, thank you for being our example. Thank you for teaching us that people always matter. Thank you for showing us what faithfulness looks like when ministry is joyful, and when it’s hard. Thank you for reminding us, time and time again, that we are “blessed” especially on the days when it didn’t feel like it.
Your legacy isn’t measured by years served or titles held. It’s found in the countless lives you’ve loved, the churches you’ve strengthened, and the family you’ve raised to love Jesus. We are who we are because of your faithfulness.

For this costume, it was a blend of both fresh floral and traditional Tongan wear. The flowers and greenery are red ginger petals along with green hypericum berries, foliage accents, and ti leaves.

The natural texture comes from kafa pulu, which is made from coconut fiber. Also incorporated is a taʻovala tuaua hinehina and puleoto (white cowrie shells), different sizes to bring the whole costume together with the finishing accessories of the kafa, necklace, wristlets, anklets, choker, and flower pieces. Then to bring it all together, had to add sandals to complete the overall look 👌🏽

It’s Toloa Ex-Student Reunion Week 💙 Our daughter flew to the bay to represent her Grandpa by performing his dance at the San Bruno First Tongan UMC - Kalapu Fie Mou’i - Fie Taka Langi chapter as they prepare to attend the USA Toloa Alumni Reunion this weekend in Martinez, California.

Keeping our cultural traditions and dances alive is challenging these days, but we’ll embrace it every chance we can and while the grandparents are still with us.

Part 4: We believe appreciation should never be overlooked. This church renovation/rebuilding was a 5-year project and this celebration was a chance to honor those who contributed and played a meaningful role along the way. With our dad serving as Pastor and leader the last 20-months, it was especially important to recognize and thank the contractors and Bishop.

For this event, Dr. G curated six personalized party favors, most from Tonga. The front table guests of honor included church leaders and building contractors, whose dedication, prayers, and support made it all possible. As a special token of appreciation, the two contractors were gifted traditional Tongan koloa, along with corned beef and bags of kava✨
