Day 6 of talking to 100 women about their real strength training experience.

I saw Deztiny @deztinymusa working out at the gym and approached her for a chat. She was immediately open about her story.

She lived in the States for a couple of years. Low energy, constantly tired, gained weight, felt like something was missing. She’d always been active growing up. Her mom and her did workouts together. She comes from a background of horseback riding. But she’d never been a gym person.

One day she decided to just start. And it changed more than her body. She feels more secure, more confident, and most of all, calm. She says every other challenge in her life feels less daunting when she’s training.

Now she goes three to four times a week. But she’s stuck. She’s struggling with progressive overload, dealing with an injury holding her back, and keeps falling into the same workouts. She wants to push herself and try new things. That’s the hardest part right now.

I am on a challenge of interviewing 100 women about their strength training experience. What they enjoy and what they find frustrating. Definitely not the highlight reel version, but the actual stuff.

94 to go. 🏋️‍♀️
