📖 ARC Review 📖

Title: minihorror
Author: Barbi Marković
Release Date: 20 October 2026
My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨

Minihorror is such a peculiar and unhinged read! This translated work follows Mini and Miki, a couple navigating the tiny snippets of horror that creep into their everyday lives. Told through a compilation of short stories, the book takes seemingly ordinary situations and turns them into something bizarre and unsettling.

I loved how unpredictable the stories were, never quite knowing what strange situation these two would find themselves in next. There’s something fascinating about how the horrors of daily life are presented here, making even the most mundane experiences feel surreal.

Beyond the weirdness, I also loved how Minihorror explores bigger themes like identity and capitalism, weaving social commentary into these short, unconventional stories. Their perspectives made this such an interesting read, and I enjoyed how the book challenges you to look at everyday life a little differently.

This may not be a conventional horror book and I had an interesting time with this read!

Thank you @times.reads and @dezziray_ for a physical copy of this book!! 🩵

Review: Grim Tidings ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

OK I REALLY ENJOYED THIS ONE!! 😭🙌🏻🩷

This was the perfect cozy October romance 🎃 It was fast paced, cute, heartwarming, hot, funny, filled with tension and overall chef's kiss.

I loved the chemistry, I loved the banter, and I absolutely adored Darcy and Gabriel, both together and as individual characters.

Darcy is a grim reaper and Gabriel is a guardian angel. One takes lives, while the other protects them. They're literally on opposite ends of the spectrum, and I DON'T KNOW HOW IT WORKS, BUT IT DOES. 😭

What surprised me most, though, was how much more layered this story was than I initially expected. Beneath all the romance, humour, and swoon worthy moments, it also explored grief, loneliness, loss, and death in such a beautiful and tender way.

And oh, the way this book spoke about death and what it could mean for us.. It was unexpectedly comforting and I loved how it was portrayed with so much warmth and heart.

10/10 WOULD RECOMMEND!!

Thank you to @times.reads & @dezziray_ for this crazy ARC I can't believe I get to hold and keep 🩷🥹

📖 Book review (ARC)

Publication Date: 3 November 2026

Some losses create a clear divide between the life before and after. The pain of losing someone, let alone your own child, is something not everyone will experience. The depth of that devastation, however, is easy to imagine.

Tether is a poignant novella about memory and the painful process of slowly learning to live with loss. The story follows Rose as she descends into depression after the death of her daughter, Anna, and is brought to the Swiss Alps and away from the world to sit with her grief.

At the start, we are introduced to grief through Rose as a child, as she revisits the loss of her mother to suicide when she was just a toddler. It is a mourning that ripples through her family, experienced differently by each person left behind. Her memories are fragmented yet vivid, and that sorrow seems to return in another form when she later loses her own daughter. Here, Rose finds herself on the other side of that mourning - no longer the child who lost her mother, but the mother who has lost her child.

The writing felt dissociative and melancholic as the narrative moved back and forth through time, which I thought mirrored the way grief unfolds really well. The notion of the “body keeping the score” is reflected in this mirroring - for Rose, it meant reliving a grief her body already knows.

Ultimately, Tether made me think about one of my biggest fears: losing someone, particularly under circumstances that feel sudden or unnatural. The world can look strangely unchanged even when your own has collapsed into stillness - people continue on, days pass, and life moves forward. But for the person grieving, learning how to move is something else entirely.

Like Rose, the body may not forget. But with time, perhaps the weight of grief can become a little easier to carry - and for anyone going through it now, I hope it does. 🫶

Thank you @times.reads @dezziray_ for a copy of this ARC 💕
