I visited Minneapolis earlier this month—a city where I spent 10 of my formative years. I didn’t know what to expect. I carried my ID everywhere I went. Something that would have been unthinkable when I lived there.

On a run along the Green Line, I saw a black SUV idling near the trail and felt that quiet fear—how easily someone could disappear without anyone knowing.

And yet, I’ve never been more proud of this city. From friends who protested daily at the Whipple Building, to people offering rides at bus stops, delivering groceries to immigrant families, and constitutional observers documenting what’s happening, Minneapolis showed up.

Sometimes you can feel a seismic shift under your feet. This week felt like one of those moments.

I’ll be back and visit Minneapolis soon ❤️
