13th Crosstown Throwdown - MP40 Champ

Huge thanks to Meridian and Armory for running a fantastic event last weekend. The OB was tight, but clearly marked through the course, and the new teepads and holes added to the drama on the course (especially the new long pad for hole 1).

Friday was rough with the wind gusting close to 40mph, but I finished with a 1000-rated 6 over par doing my best to minimize mistakes and OB strokes.

Saturday felt more like disc golf again. I separated myself from the field, staying away from the OB and making some big putts to earn a few birdies I didn’t think were in the cards.

Sunday was our best day of the weekend. The wind was finally down and it felt like I could attack the course. Picked up a surprise birdie on 1 before hole 2 gave me a 2 OB reality check. Settled in after and finished -5 to secure the win!

Non disc golf highlights include spending time with my dad up in Georgetown, catching a friend’s HS football game, and celebrating with some Salt Lick and Round Rock Donuts.

LEVEL UP

Moved up 4 points to a new high of 968 with the October ratings update! I’ve had a pretty good season with an Alphabet of wins, taking down an A, B, and C Tier in MA1 as well as playing in the Amateur Worlds Major tournament. I’m looking forward to continuing to level up!

The second Tuesday of every month is Ratings Update Tuesday! After a 15 point jump last month, I have a 1 point correction. I have a few chances left to bump the score a bit higher but I am happy with my second season competing.

After months away from competition I finally got back to it and made a great climb in the right direction. More rounds falling off next month which will bump me up even more and then my last tourney of the year in December. On my way back to 980+ and it feels good. Thanks to @h13_discgolf and @meridiandiscs for the support.

Career high of 1027!?! Like what??? Holy smokes this season has been incredible. Still hunting down a win for this year, but I’m not giving up on that yet. To be fully transparent, I thought I was just going to fade away once I became a dad. I was mentally prepared to start declining when it came to tournaments. I guess my mind and body weren’t willing to accept this fate and I’ve pushed my game to a level I wasn’t sure I could hit. Shout out to @treesa24 for pushing me to be my best and to show the young talent in MPO what I’m made of still. Thank you to @thoughtspaceathletics for making discs to help me find success and for @discgolf978 for always having what I need to be prepared for these tournaments.

Last event of the season and last true @pdga ratings update before I begin a slow winter stretch.

Going up 6 points in an update is not too common with as many rounds as I have in my count, but I’m ecstatic to make the charge I have since August through some practice and just overall focus!

Huge thanks to @dgratingslab for the tracking and the graphic for this!

Salvaged this past month with a decent tournament this weekend. Back up in the 970s and hopefully for good this time! Also make sure you checkout @dgratingslab if you haven’t yet. They have lots of cool templates like this plus a lot of tools to take a deeper look into your game 🤷🏼‍♂️

Maine State Championships - T-2nd MP40

My 4th trip to Maine States was a bit of a mental battle. Putts weren’t falling, the rollaways were brutal, and I let it all get to me on the course. Even with the frustrations on the course, I was able to fight back on the final day to secure a 2nd place tie with @egbigfoot far behind @jchiu113. Justin finished the tournament in dominant fashion, throwing in from a few hundred feet on the final hole on the way to a -11 final round.

We had plenty of Smiling Hill Farms chocolate milk, made time to play their new course, and spotted a bald eagle near the Airbnb. Had a ton of fun off the course hanging with the New England crew and enjoying the break from the Texas heat.

Fought my way up from 4th to Tied for 2nd. Came in to Sundays round of the Arkansas Masters A Tier 3 strokes behind 2nd with a mission to catch him, cut back on the bogeys and make some putts. 1 Bogey, 13 Pars and 5 Birdies. @prodigydisc D2 in 750 Fractal, Pa-3 in 300 Fractal and H6 in 500 plastic came clutch this weekend. Wearing @discgolfthreads and marking with @treasures_of_the_forest

@dgratingslab gave me the satisfying confirmation that I had the hottest round for MA40 today, thanks for that feature.

2026 Masters World Championships - T32nd

Played great for 60% of my 2026 worlds event, putting down great rounds on all three of my trips to Northwood Black. Unfortunately I spent my time at Sunset Hills plummeting down the scoreboards when I should’ve been picking up birdies.

I did record three birdies on hole 8 at Northwoods. The Mint Discs Nocturnal Lasso was the perfect stability for the downhill gap setting me up with short putts on the 308 ft par 3.

I was also able to get a quick video of a groundhog making like my disc golf game and disappearing from sight at Sunset Hills.

Thank you for all of your positive messages and encouragement last week! Meant a lot hearing from friends each day coming off the course.
