Developing equanimity is a powerful benefit to practicing mindfulness.

There’s a balance to it, and an appreciation of everything- free from judgement.

There’s also a recognition that things can change at any moment. That’s part of the predicament we find ourselves in as humans.

To add on to @david_nichtern s vital point I’ll leave another quote from his teacher Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche:

“The bad news is you’re falling through the air, nothing to hang on to, no parachute. The good news is, there’s no ground.”

Enjoy the rest of this amazing conversation, which includes a mindfulness practice that you can save and use on YouTube and your favorite podcast platforms.

This quote, from Buddhist teacher David Nichtern is about Buddhism and the 2 coexisting paths of enlightenment- sudden recognition and gradual accumulation.

This quote also perfectly encapsulates integration. Before you experience “sudden recognition”, enlightenment might seem impossible. But enlightenment isn’t the end, it’s available to you right now and is accessed in so many ways.

After you have your sudden experience the game becomes “how can I continue to experience this?” That’s why integration and the gradual path is key.

How’s your breath?
How are you sleeping?
How are you eating?
What are your daily practices?
Are you kind to others? How about yourself?
Are you comfortable in stillness? In chaos? In the cold, in the heat?
In the expanse of nature?

I feel like I’m just scratching the surface but the quote is so alive to me.

My deepest gratitude to @david_nichtern for his lessons and his presence.
