💧A repurposed treasure from the Basement Flood of 2017 💧 In the wake of the devastating basement flood of 2017, one LEGO set stood as a testament to resilience. The box of my treasured 10020 Santa Fe Limited Edition suffered severe damage, a casualty of water's relentless power. Yet, within the soaked cardboard and faded artwork, the spirit of the Santa Fe train lives on. Though the box may be worn, the set itself remains intact, ready to embark on new adventures. I will be listing and selling the set in bricklink and framing this damaged box to commemorate reusing what we can to help #saveourplanet. It's a reminder that even in the face of unexpected challenges, the magic of LEGO endures. 💙🚂 👇 @reusebricks , our mission is to breathe new life into LEGO sets and bricks while fostering a sustainable and eco-friendly approach. A Rare Zayante Band-Winged Grasshopper Red Hawk Hill 2023 Order Orthoptera - Family Acrididae. Known to live only in Santa Cruz County within the Zayante Sandhills featuring mostly Ponderosa Pine and manzanita within Maritime Coast Range called sandhill parkland and sandhill chaparral habitats. These areas have little vegetation, the soil drains quick, is lacking in organic matter than most are, heavy with sediments mostly sandstone, and is sandy to very sandy. Large plants survive in the Sandhills, one theory says, by absorbing water and nutrients through the fungi living on their roots. These grasshoppers have forewings that are tan to gray depending on its surroundings with darker bands across its body, pale yellow hind wings, with one faint thin band that is visible when they are in flight; its eyes are also banded. Its lower legs (tibiae) are blue and gray (Donald J. Barry 2000). They have good “flying” ability, being known to fly or hop distances of three to seven feet. They produce a crackle sound while hopping in order to avoid predators. The ocean once covered California's Central Valley and when the Santa Cruz Mountains formed, sand from the ocean floor was lifted by tectonic plates creating the Sandhills ecosystem. The Zayante Sandhills habitat is one of the RAREST and SMALLEST ecosystems in California, and in the U.S. The Zayante Sandhills ecosystem is home to many other endemic species not only the Zayante band-winged grasshopper, many of them are on the endangered species list inc; the Mount Hermon June beetle, Santa Cruz wallflower, Ben Lomond buckwheat, Bonny Doon manzanita, Ben Lomond spine-flower, the Santa Cruz monkeyflower and the Santa Cruz kangaroo rat. -find our organic vegan worm castings and california redwood walking sticks for sale to help support our restoration projects. . . . . . . . . #zayantebandwingedgrasshopper #grasshopper #wormfarm #gardenlife #naturepreserve #smallorchard #sustainableagriculture #permaculture #santacruzmountains #naturelovers #ecofriendly #biodiversefarms #naturephotography #walkingstick #chapparal #wildlifephotography #rareanimals #rareinsects #endemicspecies

Yesterday, I finally had the opportunity to unbox my Republic Gunship LEGO set 7163. The anticipation built up over the years, and seeing it in all its glory brought a surge of joy and excitement. After the basement flood of 2017, we finished the process of setting up the LEGO dining room, and then, the subsequent move from the Alameda House in 2021. These were all steps in helping me to this point, my arduous race to Zero Lego. This Republic Gunship, untouched by the flood and carefully preserved throughout the years of moves, holds a special place in my heart. It represents resilience and the power of LEGO to withstand the test of time. As I gaze upon it now, proudly displayed and cherished, I am reminded of the hours and hours of play and display enjoyment this set has seen. Mega armies, landing parties and quite a few birthdays. My kids and I have enjoyed this set immensely. @reusebricks, we are dedicated to reducing plastic waste and preserving the joy of LEGO. Throughout my life, collecting and building LEGO sets has been a source of immense peace and solace for me, especially in dealing with childhood Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD). As a child, I faced numerous challenging and traumatic experiences that left a lasting impact on my emotional well-being. However, the world of LEGO provided me with a sanctuary, a place where I could escape and create my own universe. The process of carefully assembling each brick, following the instructions meticulously, and seeing my creations come to life brought a sense of control and order into my life. It became a therapeutic outlet, allowing me to channel my emotions into a constructive and creative pursuit. LEGO became more than just a toy; it became a powerful tool for healing and resilience, helping me navigate the complex emotions associated with my childhood experiences and providing a sense of calm amidst the chaos. Even today, as an adult, the simple act of connecting those colorful bricks still brings me a deep sense of peace and reminds me of the resilience I have cultivated through the years. Stay tuned for more -👇 ReUse Bricks wants to share the lego love, every 100 followers we add we are giving away a set for collaboration 👏 -at 2000 followers a train set. -selling my entire collection after 45 years, over 2000 sets and items, thousands of mini figs - still working to add items ♻️🧱 . . . . . #LEGOTherapy #BuildingHealing #CopingWithCPTSD #BrickByBrick #ChildhoodHealing #EmotionalResilience #CreativeOutlet #BuildingPeace #LEGOtherapyWorks #HealingThroughPlay #legolife #legoseries18 #legominifigures #reusebricks

❗️2017 Basement Flood ❗️ Dear fellow LEGO enthusiasts and friends, I wanted to take a moment to update you all on the journey of ReUseBricks. As many of you may have heard by now, in 2017, I experienced a devastating setback in my LEGO collecting journey when a broken PVC pipe caused a flood in my basement, ruining over 100 MISB sets as well as boxes, instructions, and other collectible lego paper. In that moment, I knew I had to take action. I dedicated myself to transforming my collection sales into a business and a LEGO charity that would help others. I began moving my LEGO into my home, specifically my dining room, as a way to appreciate and honor the collection I had worked so hard to build. Today, I am proud to say that my dedication has evolved into a thriving business called ReUseBricks. We are committed to giving new life to all LEGO, especially used sets and pieces, while preserving the joy and creativity that comes with the LEGO building experience. The flood of 2017 was a difficult setback, but it ultimately led me down a path that I never could have anticipated. I am grateful for the opportunity to continue pursuing my passion for LEGO and to share that passion with others through ReUse Bricks. I am also excited to announce that after selling hundreds of sets, I am also excited to announce that after selling hundreds and hundreds of sets, I am now embarking on the real journey of sorting and preparing the used sets and minifig collections for listing and sale.
