I sat down with Michael Weaver at Black Sunday Film Festival to discuss his upcoming award-winning horror feature film The Reckoning. Michael wrote, produced and starred in this haunting tale, directed by Alex Breaux, which is currently screening on the film festival circuit.

Inspired by Guy de Maupassant’s Pierre et Jean (1888), The Reckoning is a visceral drama cloaked in a knife edge psychological thriller. An inversion of the prodigal son parable, the film’s disturbing intensity is unrelenting, the focus constantly shifting, layering, unravelling like its main character. Fast descending to a mayhem where objective truth is indiscernible, and full immersion to an open-eyed nightmare involuntary.

Keep up to date on all things The Reckoning by following @thereckoningfilm

I’d like to thank Michael for taking the time to talk with me. You can hear the whole interview now on YouTube.

-THE RECKONING- 2023

🎬A film made by 18 people in 18 days in Normandie, France🇫🇷 🎞️Last night we got to see our hard work on the big screen at @ifs.film.festival @thereckoningfilm This thriller is a tale of two brothers navigating the death of their father, all while something darker emerges from inside the walls of a mysterious chateau. Starring Michael Weaver, Kristin Griffith and Quincy Dun-Baker @q.d.b

This movie came out so good and it was an amazing team to be a part of and I'm forever grateful for the experience. We lived and worked in a 350 year old chateau full of history and mystery. And we had a damn good time doin it.
