Tonight is the big celebration benefit concert for the 25th Anniversary of The Silverlake Conservatory of Music with the Chili Peppers, Dave Grohl, and Vince Staples.

Here are some snaps I took at the actual opening night party 25 years ago when it was first started by Flea, Pete Weiss, and Tree at the original storefront location on Sunset Blvd in Silverlake (LA). The non profit music school has been a pillar in the community since. The amount of music taught and learned, creativity, and goodness that has come out of this place over the past 25 years is a beautiful thing. Thousands of kids (and adults) have gotten the gift of music education. Nothing but love for em’. Congrats on 25 years! 🎶🥳

Lost a couple good ones of my old crew of friends in these pics since these were taken 25 years ago. RIP DH Peligro and Marty Goldberg!

Darren Eric Henley better known as D. H. Peligro was a musician, actor, composer and is best known as the drummer for Dead Kennedys. Formed in San Francisco, Dead Kennedys merged revolutionary politics with hardcore punk music and became one of the most defining bands in music history. Peligro joined the Dead Kennedys in 1981, replacing their original drummer and made his recorded debut with the group on the EP, In God We Trust Inc. Peligro would go on to record the studio albums Plastic Surgery Disasters, Frankenchrist, and Bedtime for Democracy. Peligro drummed for the Dead Kennedys from 1981 until their break up in 1986 and then again after it reformed in
2001. Peligro also played the drums for the Red Hot Chili Peppers in 1988 following drummer Jack Irons’ exit. Peligro released three solo records from 1995 to 2004 and also penned the 2013 memoir, “Dreadnaught: King of Afropunk.” Peligro was not just a powerful drummer, he was a gifted singer, songwriter, guitarist and so much more. Here’s to the brilliant and unforgettable punk legend D. H. Peligro. We love you! 👊🏾 (July 9, 1959 - October 28, 2022 ) #dhpeligro #deadkennedys #rhcp #punkrock #punkrocklegends
