Week 7 in the FCS was wild. SFA stays at number 1 after they manhandle the Nicholls in Thibodaux 56-0. Southeastern Louisiana pulled off a huge upset against the former number 2 Lamar to get back their 3rd place ranking after losing it to UTRGV week 6. That game got the Lions ranked and knocked Lamar down to 16 in the national rankings. UIW takes Lamar’s place after a dominate win over the Vaqueros at home. HCU and UTRGV both dropped a spot to make way for SELA, despite HCU handle ETAM very easily. East Texas A&M will move up one spot to number 7 and jump Nicholls, who looked completely dead on arrival against the Lumberjacks. Then McNeese and Northwestern State will stay at the bottom two spots. McNeese almost sold against the Demons, and my bold prediction is the Colonels actually will. I say this week will be the Demons’ first win on the season. Best of luck to ETAMU and UTRGV in their out of conference games against PVAMWho?? and Central Arkansas respectively. Games to look out for this week will be the weekly Toilet Bowl between Nicholls and NSU, HCU’s game against Lamar as they try to follow Southeastern Louisiana in upsetting the Cardinals, and SFA vs SELA as SFA tries to start 8-0 for the first time in program history during Homecoming week. #sfa #sfasu #southland #southlandconference #fcsfootball

DITV Film Room: We’re scouting UIW’s passing game, and this is the play UTRGV fans need to see. 🎥 Lamar drops into coverage, but Jacob Emmers gets vertical and runs past it anyway. Emmett Brown has time, then leads him perfectly so Emmers can catch the ball in stride. That’s a 74-yard TD built on speed and ball placement. Against Lamar, Brown threw for 303 yards and 2 TDs. Emmers caught 7 for 104 and a score. Coverage alone didn’t close that window. #DITV956 #UTRGVFootball #UIWFootball #SouthlandFootball #football

My week 7 Southland Conference power rankings (based on just my opinion). Big moves this week in the FCS. SFA got moved up to the 3 spot in both of the biggest polls during the bye. Lamar had a good win against UIW and prevented them from coming back at the end of the game. I was going to move Incarnate Word up one spot even if Southeastern Louisiana had won just because they’ve had the two hardest conference games of the season back to back, playing two top 10 teams in the nation and came within 3 points in both of those games. I think they’ll finish the season third in conference. HCU moved up as a result of SELA losing, and UTRGV moved up to the 5 spot. I said last week that I thought they just had a bad game against East Texas A&M. ETAM had their homecoming and pulled off the upset, but I put UTRGV right back at the 5 spot where they were two weeks ago. When they’re at home it feels like they could be ranked but when they’re away they perform much worse. We’ll see how they do against UIW this week. SELA is at 6 right below the Vaqueros and Nicholls and ETAM both moved down a spot. McNeese stayed at 9 and of course Northwestern State stayed at 10. The Demons play the Cowboys in this week’s Toilet Bowl… I think McNeese has that one easily. SELA plays Lamar so if they want to bounce back from their loss against UTRGV they’ll have to pull off a huge upset. The Lumberjacks play the Colonels this week which should not be too much of a challenge, and ETAM goes to HCU to see if they can get an upset. #sfa #southland #southlandconference #utrgv #fcsfootball

DITV Game of the Week Film Room: Down 11 in the fourth. Down 33–30 with the clock bleeding. Caidyn Hoover finds Ryan Rodriguez for the go-ahead touchdown with 11 seconds left. Vela wins it 37–33.
