Tahoe Rim Trail @tahoerimtrail Segment Two. October 3-7, 2026. 80.25 miles. Elevation Gain- 13,608’. Peaks, valleys, laughs, and tears with the greatest hiking partner on the planet @blayneyadamsonn. Lonely coyotes, two states, not enough water, too much water, always good food, wedding excitement, National Guard friends in high places @cmorisoli and Bartholomew Bear, who never offered to carry ANY water. Never enough time with his kid in the mountains. 32 miles left to circumnavigate Lake Tahoe… cannot wait for next year. Thank you to @jcbcadamson for the trail head drop and the water cache at Brockway. Clearly out of your way, but so appreciated. And thanks to @like_mike_1 for the “trails end” pick up. The dogs were screaming after 22 miles and you cannot imagine the feeling of having a ride waiting for you back to Gardnerville.

⛷️Heading to Tahoe this winter? Its never to early to start dreaming about some fresh powder turns. If you’re heading up with little ones, save this list of our favorite family friendly resorts!

📍Sierra-at-Tahoe, Twin Bridges, CA: Easy access from South Lake Tahoe, Sierra-at-Tahoe is absolutely amazing for kids. This is the locals favorite mountain and has tons of wide, mellow terrain. Check out their star wars themed ski school, plus daycare for the littlest non-skiers so adults can take some turns, too.

📍**Palisades Tahoe (Alpine Meadows side), CA:** With less crowds and more wide open terrain than the main Palisades base in Olympic Valley, with an excellent ski school reputation (and tubing, too!) Alpine is an excellent choice for family fun. Older kids and parents can head over to Palisades bigger terrain via a shuttle.

📍Heavenly Ski Resort, South Lake Tahoe, CA: The Gondola ride straight up to the beginner area mid mountain is a a novelty kids love before they even clip in! California lodge has a dedicated beginner area that is far away from the main mountain traffic, too.

📍 Homewood, West Shore, CA: Small, uncrowded, and epic lake views! Stop in at the Tahoma market for amazing sandwiches after skiing with the fam.

📍Diamond Peak, Incline Village, NV: Uncrowded & affordable, this is a local’s favorite has some of the best views of Lake Tahoe and a gentle beginner area. No big lines or crowds!

We are SO grateful to collaborate with KTB and Diamond Peak to do our part in keeping our home hill clean 🩵
