1. The first finished copy of Notes To Self.
After months of working on it, it was quite something to finally hold it in my hands. 2. 180 pages, folded and gathered into sections before being sewn together. 3. Hard cover being prepared with this waxy tactile finish
 4. The die + pressing the title
A custom-engraved piece of metal carrying the title, heated and pressed into the cover to create the debossed lettering. 5. The tiny details - choosing head and tail bands, those little strips of colour at the top and bottom of the spine. 6. Putting it all together.
The finished cover is attached to the sewn book block. This is when all the separate pieces finally become a book. 7. Four finished books

Just a few hours ago I received a small set of advance copies of my new book, ‘The Edge of Ruin’, direct from the printer / binder so I’m very excited that I will now have some copies to show on my table at @bop_bristol this weekend. Opening the box is so nerve racking, but I’m so happy with the job that the printers and binders have done. It is exactly as I envisioned it, with the design choices made with @wayneford of materials, layout, construction and binding all working so well towards the subject matter. If you are planning to come to BOP, and backed the book in the Kickstarter campaign, do let me know I'll try and keep a copy for you to pick up. The main set of the books (the other 720 copies) will be completed during next week and as I am away on location arrive with me the following week. Once they do, I will then start the process of shipping the 200 plus copies and rewards for the Kickstarter out. You can still preorder your copy from my website.
