Some days, these days, I think that artists might be the canary in the coal mine. Other days I think we represent the essential, enduring aspects of humanity.

I spend a bit of time over on LinkedIn for my @_intomeandsee_ photography work and my feed is schizophrenic: AI trainers and unofficial Big Tech reps vs AI ethics thoughtleaders and people who hate prompted output with an existential passion.

It can be a bit intense as an artist and self-employed creative tbh.

I don’t know which way it’s gonna go. Will AI just turn out to be the digital equivalent of Temu (don’t admit you use it occasionally because although it’s cheap, it’s a bit shit and definitely a knock off) and you ultimately still value human craft and doing business? Or will it make the internet like a globe-sized goose, stuffed full of beige, rendering the online space unusable while it vaporises financial markets, business and culture itself?

If I was a betting woman and you could bet on things like this (because hey, that’s what all the speculators ā€œfundingā€ the stuff are doing while they sell chips to themselves and build data centres we might not need), I’d have a buck each way.

When I decided to do a FBF post over there today I recognised how lucky I’ve been to spend time in studios and theatres, photographing artists at work.

Choreographers. Directors. Composers. Actors. Dancers. Musicians. Artists.

This week I’ve found it very interesting how the Tilly Norwood thing inflamed the internet. Prompted pictures haven’t elicited the same level of horror (unless you’re an illustrator or a photographer).

And now there’s Sora. šŸ’€

Tilly couldn’t do any of the stuff in these images.
Because people aren’t tools.

2025 is quite a ride. I love my job!
