Who said volunteering can’t be fun? 🍔✨ Def recommend Dick’s-A-Thon if you haven’t done it yet!

Handing out post-race burgers was an experience 😆

Hoping we can run it together next year…(his max distance so far is a 5k 🏃‍♂️‍➡️)

Had an absolute blast being able to photograph the dick's-a-thon this past weekend!! For those that don't know, this Marathon includes running to 5 different dick's burgers locations and eating an item off the menu at each of them. Truly a fun challenge for those that participated!

While volunteering for the first time, not only did I get to witness true determination from these runners consuming food and running a marathon, but I got to see a new side of marathons that I hadn't seen before. The volunteers and organizers of this event were filled with just so much love and passion and desire to just be as friendly as possible. Every person I interacted with was super friendly and I could see how much they cared about what this marathon was for. If you ever want to volunteer and be surrounded by so many people full of love and happiness, then I definitely recommend signing up to volunteer for next year.

If you want to learn more about how this Marathon came to be, or want to keep an eye out for volunteering next year, please check out their site at https://www.dicksathon.com/. There's even a wonderful documentary that perfectly captures the event!

Thank you @dicksathon for letting me be a part of this moment :)

My first road marathon! The Dicks-a-Thon is not your traditional “race”. Not only do you travel to five Dick’s restaurants and eat along the way but there’s also no timing, there’s no medal and no winners. This is an event rather than a race because the point is supporting a good cause.

The Dicks-a-Thon aims to raise money for several WA search and rescues in honor of Ian Cox who lost his life in the backcountry. This event was such a blast. People were so nice and seeing the city of Seattle this way was fun! Even with the one million hills. And it’s sponsored by @brooksrunning who you know I love and support.

If you get the chance to do this run, whether the full, half, or just eating, I hope you do! Thanks for having me 🥰

JUAN FOR THE W 🍔

Juan Alaniz completed his first Dick’s-a-thon! The Dick’s-A-Thon is a very Seattle challenge: run around the city while eating at five Dick’s Drive-In locations along the way. The full course is 26.3 miles, with participants eating a Deluxe, a Special, a cheeseburger, fries, and a milkshake.

This is not Juan’s first athletic feat – he’s a RAGNAR veteran, a RUN WITH PRIDE warrior, and many more! We’re so proud of him and his focus on health…with some yummy snacks from Dick’s Drive-In along the way for this competition.

The race came to be to support local search and rescue groups, outdoor-access scholarships, and Washington’s National Parks Fund – something we can all get behind!

What a weekend! On Saturday, October 17, runners took over Seattle for the 2026 Ian Cox Memorial @dicksathon, presented by @brooksrunning. They ran from one @dicksdrivein Restaurant to the next, with a burger, fries or a shake at every stop, all to raise money for search and rescue and outdoor safety in Washington.

Icom America was proud to support the event with radio #communications, helping keep volunteers and #Safety teams connected along the course.

A big thank-you to:
• The #volunteers who kept the day running smoothly
• The #sponsors who made it all possible
• The @kingcountysar teams who look out for all of us, on race day and every day
• Brian Bickel and the Dick's-A-Thon crew for another unforgettable year

It was great to catch up with old friends and to meet so many new ones. We're already looking forward to next year.

Very proud to be back for the Dick’s-a-thon’s 5th year. So many incredible people work together to make this run happen, it’s impossible to thank everyone. However, I really want to thank Dick’s for working with us to make our silly little dreams come true. We’re now 5 years into an event that I never wanted to exist, trying to find some way to roll with the punches and make something good happen. Thank you Dick’s for being part of our journey!

Radio check. Who’s out there?

Today we run it, eat it, and laugh about it, for the volunteers who answer the call when someone’s lost out there.

@dicksathon Dick’s-A-Thon is ON. Over.

Cheering on James’ cousin Chris who came up from Oregon this weekend to do the Dicks Drive In Dicks-a-thon. 26.3 miles, five stops eating a food item at each location and amazing vibes all around!
