Awards judge @tinafigartist’s Alla prima portrait demo this weekend. Very special and educational to see Tina bring this 3 hour portrait to life, focusing on drawing, paint application, subtle shifts in color temperature, and more!

Thank you, Tina, for bringing us into your process!

Special shoutout to Tina’s husband, Bryan, for modeling.

Diego Mora arrived from Venezuela with an interest in drawing, but it was in New York where he began to discover the work of the old masters. Today his gaze is focused on people, portraiture, and their emotions. I enjoyed talking with this young artists in the middle of Central Park.

The classical tradition is something that drives Diego. With all his youth, he resists the urge to keep looking forward without first understanding what happened in the past.

There is a new interview with this great painter in my youtube channel.

Potente pintura.

On November 11, the Art Students League celebrated its 150th Anniversary Gala at the Rainbow Room! The evening honored the over 200,000 artists that have studied or taught at the League, alongside a moving tribute to League Alumni Robert Rauschenberg, a performance by Broadway’s Krysta Rodriguez, and live art activations—all in support of the League’s mission to make fine art education accessible to all. A thank you to the hosts, performers, artists, and League community who celebrated this incredible milestone. Cheers to 150 years 🥂
