NINOW100: Audio - Glorified Scaffolding by Jan Carson

This monologue is part of a series of monologues and introductory essay in response to John T. Davis' 1989 documentary, Dust on the Bible, a stunning snapshot of evangelical Protestant culture in Northern Ireland in the 1980s.

Each of the five monologues imagines the experiences of one of the women who appear briefly in the documentary. In allowing these women to voice their thoughts and feelingas, Carson seeks to explore the role of women in the evangelical Protestant tradition and lend them some degree of autonomy.

Glorified Scaffolding was read by Maeve Smyth and directed by Emily Foran with sound and music composition by Die Hexen, live recording and sound editing by Ian Jordan, and was produced by the MAC.

Find out more, and read/listen to the introductory essay, Glorified Scaffolding and the rest of the monologues via the link in our bio.

Had the BEST weekend down in @analoguecatalogue mixing our tracks for #nielectronicworkshop. I learned a LOT (not all about mixing either...) and laughed until my face and stomach hurt in gorgeous surroundings and with great people. I even got to add some bonus synth to my track! You can't ask for a better weekend really, can you?

Isn't making music great?!

It has been unreal to see how many films I’ve designed ended up on @belfastfilmfestival ✨

All of them hold a special place in my heart because they were made around my due date.

@saul&I was filmed three days after we had Maya. Concept was discussed and decided with @jonbeerooo long time before, costumes were purchased way in advance and wonderful @doyamoogan was on set instead of me 💖 thank you @northernirelandscreen and @ooofilms for this opportunity ✨

ATTENTION ATTENTION, OUT NOW 🚨

David Holmes - Hope Is The Last Thing To Die ft. Raven Violet Remixes!

Remixer @danielmarkavery retains much of the original flavour, with added Burroughs-ian vocal effects, driven by sharp-edged hi-hats and a bassline that comes in only one size: XL. Soundtrack composer and performance artist, @diehexen, alongside collaborator Ruth Bate, turn in a maelstrom of a mix that retains the house drive while adding industrial attack that recalls Sheffield drop forges and Test Department.* Fellow-Belfast-born producer Timmy Stewart reworks the track into a jaunty assault of Balearic breakbeats for the eleventh hour.

All remixes available on all streaming platforms. Link in story
