And one last look at my Lagiacrus rig! 🐊🌊

For the final breakdown, I’m showing how the tail and leg systems work.

The tail has a fully joint-based setup designed to give it a lot of flexibility and control while keeping the movement smooth and natural.

The legs were probably one of the most time-consuming parts of the rig. I spent so much time working on the setup because I really wanted the movement to feel as natural as possible, especially when it comes to keeping the feet and toes properly grounded.

The setup uses a mix of IK handles, constraints, and duplicate joint chains that transfer rotation without affecting translation. I also used a few blendshapes to help with some of the more specific deformations around the legs.

**Lagiacrus Rig 🐊🌊**

First of all, huge thanks to the amazing @marinallorenteart for letting me use her incredible Lagiacrus 3D model for this project!

This has been my most challenging rigging project so far, but also probably the one I’ve learned the most from.

Most of the rig was built using my own autorig, which I’ve been working on and improving along the way.

It’s a hybrid rig, using joints for the main deformation and some blendshapes on the legs for more specific deformations. The rig is also fully joint/blendshape based, so it can be exported to a game engine.

There are quite a few different systems and features that I’m really happy with, so I’ll be making more posts showing different parts of the rig and going a bit more in-depth into how they work.

This is just the beginning — more Lagiacrus coming soon! 🌊

Hello everyone! 👋

I felt it was time to share some new progress on this character.
I was lucky enough to have been able to develop this project during the mentorship program at @fury.artacademy with @brunocamara.art @artofandrec and @pedro.varella
I'm incredibly grateful for everything they shared during my time there, they are truly amazing!

This isn't the final textured version of course, but I finally reached a milestone I was really looking forward to: completing the highpoly phase the way I envisioned it. 🎮

I'm also planning to share a reel with the process I used to detailing the metal parts! ✍️
