I’m still thinking about Rest & Restore. 🤍

A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to create a space for the Autism Moms of Houston to simply breathe, move, journal, reflect, pray, connect, and be poured into.

Since sharing Rest & Restore on another platform, I’ve received hundreds of comments and DMs from Ausome moms. Some asking when the next gathering will be. Some saying, “I really need this.” And others sharing that they haven’t been doing okay and need a space like this.

I’m not going to lie, reading those messages made me emotional because the need is so much bigger than I realized.

There is a community of women who spend so much of their lives caring, advocating, researching, scheduling, praying, fighting, and showing up for their children—but who also need spaces where their own souls are cared for.

Ausome moms are some of the strongest women you will ever meet. And behind that strength can exist so many things at once: deep love, joy, exhaustion, fear, grief, hope, gratitude. Sometimes all in the same day.

As an Ausome mom myself, I understand that complexity.

Creating spaces where these women can rest, move, be poured into, and encounter the presence of God feels like holy work to me. A space where they can lay some of what they’ve been carrying down and allow God to meet them there.

I’m hoping to host another Rest & Restore gathering for Ausome moms across Houston soon. 🤍

So grateful to @NinetyNineCafe for opening their space to us and helping make this gathering possible.

There are women who spend so much of themselves pouring out.

I want to create a place where they can come and be poured into. 🤍

Put a lippie on, fix your mindset, and for God’s sake… stop entertaining the “what if I fail?” 😂💄

At some point, you have to stop being interested in whether or not it’s possible and start moving like there’s only one direction: FORWARD.

Will everything go perfectly? Absolutely not.
Will I have to pivot, learn, rebuild, pray and try again? Probably. 😏
But quitting? That’s not one of the possibilities I’m entertaining.

Failure is not an option. So… hear me. 💋

Movement is doing more for your brain than you think. 🧠

When we move our bodies, we’re also supporting our brains. Physical activity increases blood flow to the brain and influences neurotransmitters involved in things like mood, focus and attention.

It also supports BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor), which plays a role in learning, memory and our brain’s ability to adapt and form new connections…aka our favorite word..neuroplasticity.

So movement isn’t only about the physical benefits. There’s a lot happening mentally too.

Another reason to keep moving. 🤍
