It was an honor to serve as a featured speaker at e-Ananse, where I had the opportunity to share insights from my book, The Leader’s Journey: A Guide to Discovering the Leader Within.

This inspirational workbook reminds us that leadership is not defined by a title—it’s discovered through self-reflection, purpose, and a commitment to serving others. During my presentation, we explored several powerful leadership lessons that resonate across communities and organizations:

Lead from within. Self-awareness is the foundation of authentic leadership. Understanding our values helps us define our mission and lead with integrity.

Use leadership to create positive change. Leadership is a vehicle for advancing justice, uplifting underserved communities, and giving voice to those who are too often unheard.

Have the courage to chart a new course. Meaningful progress requires stepping into uncharted territory to address persistent challenges with creativity and conviction.

Champion the next generation. Great leaders don’t just achieve success—they empower others to discover their own leadership potential.

Thank you to the @eananselibrary for creating a space for thoughtful dialogue, reflection, and shared learning. I appreciate everyone who joined the conversation and contributed their perspectives. Together, we continue the journey of leading with purpose, compassion, and impact.

Over a week ago, our first gathering in Accra found a perfect home at Dikan Library @dikanlibraries @dikancenter . The space, rich with history and incredible stories, captured everything A Lazy Sunday is designed to be.

Throughout the day, our A3S community had a moment to disappear into books, have easygoing conversations, play and switch out music from the communal playlist and simply linger for as long as they wanted to. The programme closed out with a wonderful tour of the exhibition at Dikan Gallery led by @pninson

A Lazy Sunday is curated by @nelsonfromnorman____ with support from @tryselar

Many thanks to everyone who showed up and shared space with us. Keep an eye out for more programmes in 🇬🇭.

Link to the communal playlist is now live via link in bio.

See you again soon?

How essential is the role of artists in revolutionary movements?

What is the importance of image making in freedom work?

A couple questions I’m pondering at the Dikan Center library in Accra, Ghana. The place is full of gems🇬🇭✊🏿

What are you doing this Sunday?

For our first programme in Accra, Ghana 🇬🇭, we’re delighted to be collaborating with @dikanlibraries to bring the second edition of A Lazy Sunday to life.

As always, this programme is an immersive and entirely communal style of interacting with music off the frame of the mainstream.

The evening will be guided by a communal playlist, filled with songs selected by everyone in the room. The genre for this edition is focused on highlife, funk and disco (from Ebo Taylor to Nana Acheampong and the Lijadu Sisters).

Hosted inside the main Dikan Photo Library, we’ll be surrounded by timeless collection of books that everyone is encouraged to read from throughout the programme.

Attendance if free but limited. RSVP via link in bio and to select your songs for the playlist.

We cannot wait to share space with you.

Dikan — “take the lead” in Twi.
Africa’s largest photography library, here in Accra, housing over 30,000 books spanning the continent’s photographic history. A place worth knowing about 📷

One year after the OAU was founded, Africa gathered again — this time in Cairo.

In July 1964, leaders including Gamal Abdel Nasser, Kwame Nkrumah, Haile Selassie, Julius Nyerere, Ahmed Ben Bella and others met to discuss the future of the continent. One major decision from that summit still matters today: African states agreed to respect the borders they inherited at independence, even though many were drawn by colonial powers. Africa Day is a reminder that unity has always required courage, debate, and difficult choices.

What does African unity mean to us today?

Participants of @keepersofblackphoto—this week's international photography convening in Accra—enjoyed a fun and informative tour of the celebrated @dikancenter with founder/director/visual storyteller Paul Ninson @pninson. It is a beautifully designed space containing a vast archive of historically important & culturally significant artifacts including photographs, books, and even vinyl records. The young staff is fully engaged with Paul's vision of preserving, digitizing and sharing knowledge. Free to the public, with an art gallery, reading room & ever-expanding library, the Dikan Center represents an inspiring alternative model for community-based arts initiatives.

Dear Artists and the Dikan Community,

When I began Dikan, my focus was simple: photography and storytelling. It was what I knew best, and for a time, that was enough. Over the past three years, Dikan Library grew into Africa’s leading photography library.

But institutions grow when they listen.

What you asked for went beyond photography — history, art, heritage, and research materials that speak to who we are and where we come from. We listened.

Today, as we sort and catalogue over 12,000 books on art, history, and heritage, the library has grown beyond its original vision. The work of @awoinstitute — millions of archives being preserved and digitised across Ghana — will now be accessible.

This is why we are now Dikan Library & Archives.

From the beginning, Dikan has believed in shared growth. We have supported libraries and cultural institutions across Ghana and Africa, and we will continue to do so. As part of this expansion, half of these books will be donated to art and cultural institutions in Ghana and Nigeria. This work is not about holding knowledge in one place — it is about strengthening ecosystems.

Africa is stronger when we build together.

My deepest thanks to our partners and supporters — Getty, @gagosian , @howardgreenberggallery, @aperturefnd dear friends @sashassuda , @peterbarberie , @zritter00 , all my Philly & NYC friends and many generous donors — for making this possible.

Thank you for believing in Dikan and for shaping it with your feedback.

Take the lead with Dikan.
