The Demon 5.13a👹✅
When I started climbing I always thought that this grade was beyond me, but today I proved myself wrong! A short and mean climb overall, excited to have cleaned up this New Mexico classic⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Very happy to have been able to share this moment with @dillonauta , who was willing to come out and just belay me before his shift today. He’s been belaying me through most of my climbing journey, from my first shaky trad leads all the way through now. I’m truly grateful for the friends and community I’ve made through this sport.

Special thanks to @adrenalinejerry for the photos from last weekend when I was working the climb and couldn’t have until I sent. Also thanks to @sandy.baggins who helped me work out the upper beta that I was struggling on.

Last weekend Gray and I zipped over to Zion for our fall break. We climbed prodigal sun (5.8, C2, IV+/V, 9 pitches) over two days, fixing lines on day one. The second day we met up with Eytan, Aaron and Dillion and laughed our way up the wall together. It was so fun to share these experiences with great people, despite the endless hanging belays and missing our shuttle we all just joked and enjoyed the beauty of Zion under the moonlight! Originally we had a team of three, and it was really awesome to have Gray & Connor join us.

Lots of hard team work but we made it to the top just in time to watch the last shuttle leave the park & hike down angels landing in the dark. Definitely excited for the next big wall.

Turns out I’m not very good at aid climbing. Tough times with good company practicing aid skills on Prodigal Sun in Zion National Park. Lots to work on and many more routes to do in this beautiful place

I feel pretty lucky being able to wander into the desert with so many great people. It’s a ponderous thing, what we all do out in the sandstone playground. Letting out the kid that never grew up, seeing the world with new eyes, experiences anew.
