SALVATION IS WITHIN YOU | Short Film
Production Design

Finalist, Russo Brothers Italian American Filmmakers Forum @abgofilms

Set in the run-up to the infamous Sacco and Vanzetti trial of the 1920s, Salvation Is Within You! is a historical thriller that follows two brothers down the path of political radicalism just as the government tightens its grip on their Italian immigrant community.

The key to the project was taking advantage of some really excellent locations.

The production team initially contacted @shorelinetrolleymuseum to source a period trolley, but during the scout I was struck by how much more the museum had to offer. We ultimately used the train yard for both the brothers’ worksite and the film’s final chase scene.

Finding the Salieri family home was surprisingly tricky. Just days before shooting, a large house built in 1905 became available. It was beautiful, but far too grand for the story. Almost as an afterthought, we went up to the attic and found two small rooms that appeared to have been servants’ quarters. They were perfect. I kept the dressing minimal and let the shape and texture of the rooms do the heavy lifting.

Stills & visuals from “12 Weeks”!

With every shot, I really wanted the camera to feel as intimate and uncomfortable as the relationship at the center of the film, written by @dylannacarelliofficial while leaning into the quiet moments, and intimacy between the characters

officially 1 year in NYC as of yesterday 🤍🌃🥹

i can only tag 20 people, and i could barelyyyy narrow the photos down, but so many more folks than are even in this carousel were involved in helping me alchemize such a wonderful first year. i love being in this city, and i love being an artist. it has been hard in a lot of moments, but so deeply rewarding.

on stage, on the page, and beyond—my dreams are coming true, one step at a time ✨ so incredibly grateful to everyone and everything that has led me to this magnificent place. my home 🤍 can’t wait to see what year two has in store. time absolutely flies. 😭

Qualche mese fa ero a New York.

Poi arrivò la mia ultima sera a New York.

So che qui viveva James Dean e mi piacerebbe tantissimo poterlo vedere all’interno.”
Loro, sorridendo, ci dissero:

“Noi abitiamo nell’appartamento di James Dean.”

Ci fecero salire.
