Photo dump from the past couple of months ✈️

1. City Beach, Perth - Couldn’t swim because of the great whites, so I hung out with one on land instead: @gillcordinercomedian .

2. SGMY Fest, Melbourne - @dilrukj annoying the shit out of me, then taking a photo so neither of us can deny it happened.

3. SGMY Fest comedy crew - Got to see @kuahjenhan and @gurmit.65 in action. I’ve been a Gurmit fan for years, so this was very exciting for me. Probably less exciting for him.

4. TGIF, Melbourne - Fun hangs with @geraldinehickey, who now only responds to “Mummy G.”

5. Random café, Perth - Quality time with @andrewsilverwood and a puppy. Mainly the puppy.

6. Brisbane - Mastering the frown with @ihatealanfang at a speed-dating comedy show. We found resentment.

Several cities, many shows, one puppy and no personal growth.

This is a clip from a show I hosted earlier this year called “Tonight At The Museum” which we filmed at the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery. One of the stand out segments of the show was when we heard from actual curators like Dr David Hocking, Senior Curator of Vertebrate Zoology and Palaeontology.

In an incredibly short-sighted move, the state government is set to cut a bunch of jobs at TMAG, losing or merging curatorial positions, including David’s. I was blown away by the incredible work that TMAG staff and curators do, their breadth and depth of knowledge, their passion, and that very unique ability to get other people excited about their speciality topic, whether through exhibitions, public talks or media appearances. They also work on big research, conservation and discovery projects. I know there is no way we could have made this show without them and I think losing these roles would be a huge loss for Tasmania, a loss that will be felt for decades to come.

There is a Parliamentary petition about the TMAG job cuts which I will link to. Please share to any Tasmanians you know!
