Our students had their first practical sound recording session, where they got to try out the Tascam recorder and learn how to use it to capture sound on set. It’s one thing to learn the theory, but getting your hands on the equipment is where you start figuring things out.

Join us for the 'Speculative Futures: Science Fiction as Fantasy and Political Imagination' panel discussion.

The panel discussion will explore speculative fiction as a tool for political imagination, asking, what happens when African writers reclaim the right to imagine the future. The discussion considers speculative genres as an important space for political thought, where the assumptions of the present can be entirely rewritten. How does African futurism look when it is imagined, defined and shaped by Africans themselves?

Meet our panelists - @dilstories @mirrianne_m and @philisiwetwijnstra .

Happening from 28th-30th August at the National Theatre/UNCC. Free entry!!!!!

It was a great honor to share a space with amazing creatives and film makers at @cinemaxug where we watched 7 amazing films on Day 2 of the @ngalabishorts. Festival. I was astonished by the different approach of film makers across Africa like Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana etc, and also being able to be among the flag bearers of Uganda with (Lajok the Night Dancer) by @dilstories & @sisifilmcollectiveug 2025. The Q&A was the best part for me because we were able to discuss the film (s) blessing us with a whole other light of purpose and direction not forgetting the inspiration that’s a major part in production
Anyway you can google the title of the film and also reach out to @gz_kampala for other amazing films like Half choclate Half vanilla, Sweet heist, to mention but a few, see you soon
Thanks again to @centurycinemax @acacia_mall_ug @gz_kampala @theugandafilmfestival

We are still processing the excitement from our 2-day short film screenings at Century Cinemax Acacia Mall for the Ngalabi Short Film Festival

A heartfelt thank you to the filmmakers who joined us for the Q&A sessions following the screenings, and to the wonderful audience that came out in large numbers to enjoy the amazing African cinema.
