We’re proud to share that Karla Kantorovich, an MFA graduate of FIU Art + Art History, presents her solo project Field of Convergence at Dimensions Variable, on view through November 4, 2026.

Field of Convergence brings together a body of work made through similar processes and materials: painting, handmade paper, textiles, wood, found objects, and, running throughout, copper and copper-colored pigment. The exhibition extends a practice Kantorovich has pursued for more than a decade, built from materials that arrive already marked by use and time: frayed cloth, tree bark, leaves, old book pages, and fragments cut from her own earlier paintings.

Artist Spotlight: Karla Kantorovich

Mexico City-born, Miami-based artist Karla Kantorovich works across painting, handmade paper, textiles, wood, and found objects, exploring renewal, transformation, and our connection to nature. Her practice often begins with materials marked by use and time, including frayed textiles, tree bark, leaves, old book pages, and fragments from her own earlier paintings.

Kantorovich will present Field of Convergence, a solo exhibition at Dimensions Variable bringing together a body of work built around these materials and processes, with copper and copper-colored pigment running throughout. The exhibition considers the ways matter holds traces of weather, handling, decay, and loss, treating worn and fragmented materials not as depleted but as carriers of memory.

At the center of the exhibition is the idea of mending. Drawing on copper’s associations with connection, healing, and regeneration, Kantorovich approaches repair not as an erasure of rupture, but as an integration of its history into a new form. Across the work, fragility and strength, decay and endurance, darkness and light, and permanence and change are held together rather than resolved.

Field of Convergence also expands Kantorovich’s practice beyond the wall, with the largest work extending onto the floor and into the surrounding architecture. Painting becomes an expanded field where materials, histories, and space converge, creating an environment centered on coexistence, transformation, and repair.

FIU Art & Art History is pleased to highlight the work of Assistant Teaching Professor Moira Holohan (@moira_holohan), currently featured in Verdure, presented by Dimensions Variable (@dimensions_variable) at Hotel Croydon in Miami Beach (@hotelcroydon).

For Holohan, chroma green—the green of the film industry’s green screen—has become a contemporary signifier: a portal, a marker of unstable identity, a place of transformation. In the works on view, that green migrates from the digital into the textile and the painted mark, carrying with it the instability of a space where one image ends and another begins.

In Verdure, Holohan’s work participates in an exploration of green across different relationships to land, surface, and image—considering green not simply as a color, but as a condition.
