one year ago today, my pen demanded to be used. what started as fragments of grief, transition, longing, and hope eventually became “colorette”

when i decided to fully commit to this story last may (with the early concept beginning alongside @follow.da.tones back in november 2023), i finally gave myself the next two months to pull everything together. the script, the cast, the crew, and the courage to believe i could actually do it. all while grieving, surviving, and finally accepting i had to leave san diego behind for a new chapter.

this past year stretched me in every possible way. it was beautiful, messy, healing, heartbreaking, and honestly one of the hardest things i’ve ever done. there were so many moments where i truly didn’t think we were gonna make it through. while trying to carry the pressure and protect others from the weight of it all, i know there were moments where i unintentionally pushed people away. for that, i sincerely apologize.

more than anything, thank you. thank you to everyone who believed in me and this story, even during moments where i was barely holding myself together. and thank you to everyone who continues to ask when this film is finally coming out 😭✨ trust me, i feel both the responsibility and privilege of carrying through what has truly become my “colorette” era.

to everyone across our cast, crew, and support teams, thank you for helping carry this film through every setback, pivot, and breakthrough along the way. and a special shoutout to our post production team @rendelbalisi @allyllac for helping breathe new life into this film when we truly didn’t know how to save it anymore.

through all the storms, i just wanted to be someone who kept the ship moving forward.

and somehow… we’re finally nearing the finish line.

see you this fall 🤍

✨ trivia: the car scene is actually my very first and most visual inspiration for this story. i’ve always been fascinated by the backstory of those who liked to chill in their cars right before they finally went inside their homes (including myself).

Last week at Hawk Watch we brought a little surprise… and let’s just say it made a few heads turn in the best way. 🦅😂

At RBO, we’re all about education through entertainment. If we can make you smile, laugh, ask questions, and then suddenly realize you just learned something about raptors, barn owl mating behaviors, or why rodenticides are such a big deal… we’ve done our job 😌 The more fun we make it, the more people lean in. And the more people lean in, the more wildlife wins!

Good news: there’s ONE MORE Hawk Watch happening this Saturday. Come hang with us. Come learn something new. Come fall a little more in love with our wild neighbors. 💖

😀 I ordered this slate to replace PCC's old on and our 1st AD borrowed it for the red carpet so we decided to make it permanent and hang it on the wall of the "Choom Room" (production meeting/classroom) as a memory of what the crew accomplished!! @thanks to @jessicakordylas for hiring us!! 💪💪
