Belated happy birthday @rashwin99
40 years old. 36 overs. 5.58 economy. And five straight games without conceding a boundary. 🔥
Ravichandran Ashwin has just finished the ETPL group stage with the best economy rate among every bowler who delivered at least 12 overs.
Across 9 matches, Ashwin bowled all 36 overs, conceding just 201 runs in a tournament where the overall economy rate was 8.15.
But the most fascinating part isn't simply the economy rate. It is the manner in which he controlled scoring.
Ashwin's dot ball percentage was only 32.9%. Instead, 49.5% of his deliveries went for singles, compared to 39.2% across the league.
He wasn't simply shutting down scoring.
He was controlling the way batters scored.
And then comes the boundary record.
Just 13 boundaries conceded from 216 balls.
That is one boundary every 16.6 balls, compared to one every 6.2 balls for the rest of the league.
At one stage, Ashwin went 108 consecutive balls without conceding a boundary, a streak that stretched across five consecutive games.
And he wasn't doing it against ordinary opposition.
His wickets included Devon Conway, Moises Henriques, Faf du Plessis, Tim David and Michael Bracewell, five players with substantial experience at the highest level of T20 cricket.
There is something particularly fascinating about watching Ashwin at this stage of his career.
The game has become faster. Batters are more aggressive. Boundaries are being targeted from the very first ball.
Even at 40, Ashwin's cricketing mind is still one step ahead of the batter.

Missed the ball? React. Recover. Finish the job! 🧤🔥

A wicketkeeper won’t always be perfectly positioned when a fumble happens. This drill focuses on quick reaction, explosive movement and recovery — reacting instantly after the ball deflects off the gloves or body and getting down to complete the catch.

One mistake. One second. One more chance to make the difference. 🏏💪#wicketkeepingdrills #reels #cricketreels #trendingnow #mandaadi

10 seasons. 11 players. One TNPL All-Time XI. 🏏🔥
The Tamil Nadu Premier League has now completed its first 10 seasons, giving us a decade of incredible performances, record-breaking numbers and some unforgettable players.
So I tried to answer one question:
Who deserves to be in the TNPL All-Time XI? 👀
For this XI, I focused primarily on TNPL performance — consistency, longevity, runs, wickets, impact, titles and overall contribution to the tournament.
That also means I haven't simply picked the biggest names in Indian cricket. Players who had a few memorable TNPL appearances but didn't play enough games weren't given an automatic spot.
And yes… there are some very big names missing. 😶
Swipe through the carousel to see my XI, the numbers behind every selection, and why I think these 11 players fit together.
Now it's your turn. 👇
Who did I get wrong?
Who absolutely HAD to be in your XI?
And who would you replace?
Comment your TNPL All-Time XI. 🗣️
