A Dino preserved, not recreated. Delivered new through Luigi Chinetti Motors and cherished by its original owner for nearly four decades, this 1972 Ferrari Dino 246 GT has enjoyed an extraordinary life of careful preservation. Its remarkable originality was recognized with the Preservation Award at Greenwich Concours d’Elegance. Showing just 14,120 miles, this unrestored example is finished in the rare and elegant Azzurro Metallizzato and remains true to its original specification. 1973 Dino 246 GTS, Rosso Dino over black upholstery. The ultimate evolution of the original masterpiece by Aldo Brovarone and Leonardo Fioravanti for Pininfarina, the Spyder version of the 246 introduced a Targa top, which required the removal of the coupe’s rear quarter panels in favour of a roll bar designed to reinforce the rigidity of this open-top body. While the lines lose a touch of purity as a result, the driver and passenger gain a great deal in comfort - it seems a 246 can get uncomfortably hot behind the wheel rather quickly. I actually know quite a few former owners who sold their Dino largely for that reason. A motive I find wholly insufficient for parting with such a masterpiece, and in my mind, these people have been quietly filed under « delicate ». But shh… The Targa concept was, once again, right on trend : producing 1,274 examples over two years is nothing to scoff at, especially compared to the 2,487 GTs built over five years. 🇮🇹🍑🇮🇹 #dino246 #246gts #rossodino #classiccars #italiancars

A collection of some of the older classics which were on sale at the Broad Arrow auction on Sunday at Villa Erba. -'72 Ferrari Dino 246 GT, Blu Chiaro Metallizazato over Rosso leather, delivered new to Chinetti-Garthwaite, sold for €400k. -'70 Alfa Romeo 1300 Junior (Bertone) restomod by Timeless Garage, twin spark swap, Alfaholics and Totem parts, sold for €149.5k. -'56 Lancia Aurelia B24 S Convertible (Aurelia, my beloved ❤️), sold for €201,250. -'73 Porsche 911 Carrera RS Lightweight, competition history, FIA Historic Technical Passport, ASI and FIVA cards, sold for €537,250. -'77 Fiat Bertone 850 T Visitors Bus...gods car. Sold for ¥189,750, total bargain. 🗿 '67 Maserati 3500 GTI Sebring, Vignale body, sold for €126,500. -'60 Lancia Flaminia Sport Zagato, 2.8L 3C swap, sold for €115,000. -'68 Aston Martin DB6 Volante Mk1, 40 year French ownership, sold after auction. -'60 Maserati 3500 GT Vignale Spyder, considered as a prototype, sold for €681,250. ... -(rear) '55 Lancia Aurelia B24 S Spider America (Aurelia, my beloved ❤️), sold for €343,750. -(rear) '66 Porsche 911 Targa soft window, not sold...good, probably wanted way too much. -'73 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS, received the Ferrari Dino Award in 2025, documented by Dino historian, Italian ownership since new, not sold (because it's a boring colour combo for a Dino ¯⁠\⁠_⁠ಠ⁠_⁠ಠ⁠_⁠/⁠¯). Some pretty special cars dotted around Villa Erba. I'm not sure which one of these is my favourite, honestly. I could make a case for taking any one of them home...minus the Targa.
