It’s week 8 of spring quarter. If you feel like crawling under your bed, you’re not alone, but we’re almost there! You can do this! We promise!

In this project, students were asked to draw a space that had perspective and intense contrast between lights and darks. Dino Heyden @dinotries wanted to use a very vibrant colored paper to give some more life to the piece. Definitely a dramatic result.

@scaddotedu #scadsavannah #drawing A charcoal drawing on orange paper. Seen from the floor, someone is under a bed, reaching out with a bright light.

Summary 9
.
Artists should be paid for their work because what they make contributes to society. Being paid for what they make allows them to continue developing their skill while making people happy with what they create. Some people believe that artists are better off working a full time job that they hate rather than being an artist and charging for their work. No one wants to work a job they hate, especially one that cuts into them doing what they love.

May 30, 2022 (Wacky’s stream):
A New Friend
.
c!Wacky is at her house when c!Grem shows up wanting to finally introduce herself. They’re both a little awkward at first, and it isn’t until c!Grem brings up building a daycare that c!Wacky gets more comfortable with them. She introduces c!Grem to Rocki, telling Rocki that he’ll have some new friends soon.
.
Afterwards, c!Wacky invites c!Grem inside and they sit together and talk more. They haven’t heard much about each other from c!Dino. While they talk, c!Grem brings up the fact that, while she was on the picnic with c!Dino, they both talked about c!Wacky. and the situation with the zombie piglin XP farm. c!Grem explained that she tried to help c!Dino understand where c!Wacky was coming from, which surprised c!Wacky. She told c!Grem she appreciated them trying to help.
.
c!Wacky, as a mother figure to c!Dino, then asks c!Grem some questions about herself. c!Grem explains how they’ve traveled around a lot, even going to places such as the End. She said that while traveling, she didn’t feel that any place, no matter how nice, was worth taking a risk and staying there until they found Cries. They said that the main reason they stayed was, in short, c!Dino.
.
c!Wacky then asks how it’s been between them and how c!Dino has been in general since they haven’t gotten to talk much (they still aren’t on good terms), and c!Grem admits that she’s been feeling uneasy. c!Dino has been avoiding them and has even gone to lengths such as destroying the picnic area and burning down the tree that was there. c!Wacky assures c!Grem that he isn’t acting normal and that she’ll talk to him about it soon.

April 12, 2022 stream:
.
c!Wacky reflects on how different her life is now. Being around non-humans and not with her family takes some getting used to, and her newfound ice powers don’t make it much easier. A bit later on in the stream, she meets with with c!Dino, and he shows her his progress on rebuilding some castle ruins next to his house. c!Dino eventually introduces c!Wacky to one of the newest members of the CriesSMP, c!Cana or c!Canal, who is a deer hybrid (someone *cough cough* C!DINO *cough cough* wouldn’t stop asking c!Cana “what he is”). c!Lunar also makes an appearance, trying to steal c!Cana’s soul for c!Diffuse, and they discuss their distrust of c!Cana with c!Wacky since c!Cana has lost lives before and is still alive. Does c!Cana have more lives than the rest of them?
.
In a previous stream, c!Wacky received a letter from c!Grem about meeting up and getting to know each other since they’ve never really spoken before. Keep an eye out for that in the future! :)

The picnic has finally arrived! The moon is setting as Dino awaits anxiously under the tree, cursing the moon as it becomes visible. Meanwhile Grem hastily makes their way there, obsessively remaining in the light along the way. After they meet and begin snacking and chatting, Dino explains the previous day's events: the arrival of Diffuse, the argument with Wacky, the moving of Rocki. Grem helps walk Dino through the reasoning behind Wacky's poor reaction to the piglin farm, that Wacky surely doesn't distrust ALL that is non-human, and explains to Dino what it means to care. The two then bond over their feelings for the night: the moon is "bad" but they like the stars, though neither fully understands the other's reasoning for this. Another experience they share is the experience of loneliness. Both Grem and Dino are the only current members of their species, making their newfound care for each other all the more meaningful. Dino explains that his people are in hiding and he wants to bring them out. The two bond more and discuss their place in the server and thankfulness for each other, then have a toast in the Mod Cafe, where Dino switches the drink he originally made for Grem with another (unnoticed by Grem). All the while, they fail to notice their uninvited, and spying, guest: Aki, whose intentions are unclear.

28 January 2022

Wacky meets Aki along the path near the church. Wacky confronts Aki about the Cookie God, seeming very distrustful of both Aki and the "religion." Aki assures Wacky there is nothing to fear and convinces her to take a look around the church. Wacky, reluctantly, agrees and peaks about. Wacky sees a trapdoor in the back and inquires about it, Aki quickly stands on the trapdoor to block it and tells Wacky it is nothing to bother with, and only true believers may enter. Wacky is suspicious, but relents and leaves the church. Later on, Dino helps Wacky move Rocki to his new house, in order to make up for their previous argument.

27 January 2022

Diffuse, the King of Hell, and Dino build a zombie piglin farm together, amongst other tasks Diffuse offers his assistance on. Diffuse's acts of kindness and the more cruel nature of Aki's Cookie God compel Wacky to point out the difference between the 2 characters. Wacky and Diffuse's relations become shaken, however, after Wacky sees that Diffuse has helped build a zombie piglin farm, as her adoptive son is a zombie piglin himself. Wacky compels Dino not to use the farm, though Diffuse convinces him to use it in secret, unbeknownst to Wacky. Tensions continue to rise as Dino accuses Wacky of viewing the non-human with distrust, and Diffuse kills another piglin and threatens to kill Rocki. Wacky leaves the two to themselves and hints to a secret she holds, saying "I can't lose anyone else…"

“Just the Two (or Four) of Us”
.
A lot of people have joined the CriesSMP server recently, so I wanted to draw just Dino and I chilling out with the first two pets of the server, Moss (the wolf) and Dan (the “cat”).
.
This took way too long. I asked Dino how they could stand to constantly not do lineart, and they said it was “easier.” They are very wrong.
.
If you want to watch us build/hang out/do lore, we have a lot of different povs! Including:

“First Encounter”
.
HEY SO!! A new streaming friend, @dinotries, started a server and I get to be part of it!! We plan on doing a bit of lore in the future, which I’m very excited for, but we don’t have much planned out just yet. Hopefully, with more people, we can think of a story to tell. We want it to be casual sort of lore like how the dsmp used to be :))
