The poster is a bit of homage to Oz cartoon legend Peter Viska, (who also did Lil Elvis Jones!) using bits of his cover illustration from the classic kids' nursery rhyme collection "Far Out, Brussel Sprout!" compiled by June Factor. June sadly passed away a couple of years ago, having been a lifelong champion of human rights and antifascism, herself a Polish Jew who escaped the nazis as a baby in her mother's arms and came here as a refugee. Vale June! The Conference against Nuclear and Militarism will take place in Naarm on the 16th-18th of October 2026. CANAM seeks to bring together two pillars of struggle that are by their very nature anti-colonial movements on the continent of so-called Australia. The movement against militarism began with the Frontier Wars and has continued through generations of First Nations leaders and communities resisting the militarisation of earth, water, air and culture. The movement against nuclear expansion has simultaneously been a movement asserting First Nations sovereignty and self-determination.
