So grateful to see Roots of Solidarity featured in the Greater Reading Thriving Together newsletter as we celebrate five years of youth, culture, storytelling, and community. 💙 Full Article in our Bio

What began with Solidarity Camp and the R City Podcast has grown into an intergenerational journey connecting young people in Reading, Philly and Chester with elders, artists, culture-bearers, and communities in Puerto Rico.

This work has always been about more than creating art. It is about giving young people space to explore identity, preserve culture, build confidence, develop their voices, and understand that their stories matter.

I am deeply thankful for every young person, family, artist, mentor, partner, and community member who has poured love into this journey over the past five years. **Roots of Solidarity belongs to all of us.**

Thank you to Greater Reading Thriving Together for recognizing this work and helping share our story. We are proud of how far we have come—and even more excited about what we are building next. 🇵🇷🎨✨

🇵🇷🎨 ROOTS OF SOLIDARITY: OUR WISHES ON THE WALL🎨🇵🇷

We just completed something incredibly special in Luquillo, Puerto Rico @eljefe_bsmf — a mural created through our Roots of Solidarity Camp with @rizeyoutharts where art became a bridge between generations, communities, and our shared hopes for the future.

Under the art direction of Reading artist @theroncook and in partnership with @Youth250 our young people helped bring this wall to life.

Each youth reflected on the question: What is your wish for the future? They created their own wishes and then stepped into the community, speaking with residents and listening to their hopes, dreams, concerns, and visions as we approach the 250th anniversary of the United States.

Those voices became part of the art.

This is what Roots of Solidarity is about — teaching our young people that their stories matter, that community wisdom matters, and that art can preserve history while also helping us imagine what comes next.

From Reading, Chester and Philadelphia Pennsylvania to Luquillo, Puerto Rico our youth are learning that they do not have to wait to become leaders. They can listen, create, document, heal, and help shape the future right now.

Our wish wall now carries the voices of youth and community together — rooted in culture, ancestry, solidarity, and hope.

What is YOUR wish for the next 250 years?❤️🇵🇷🇺🇸

Phase One of our Roots of Solidarity mural is complete!🇵🇷🌿

Created in Luquillo, Puerto Rico. This community mural was designed by artist @theroncookart and brought to life alongside our young artists and family at the @rizeyoutharts - Roots of Solidarity Camp

This piece represents connection, ancestry, creativity, and the stories that root us to one another. Every line, color, and hand that touched this wall became part of our collective story.

And we’re not finished yet… Phase Two happens this Saturday! We can’t wait to see how this beautiful work continues to grow. 🌱✨

Roots run deep. Solidarity makes us stronger.

Thank you @reform for the partnership
