The Weight of It - Short Film by Damilola Raji I was looking back at some of the wonderful work I’ve had the chance to be a part of as I look forward to coming home to London, and found these! I loved being a part of this short film and still can’t believe what we were able to create with a 2 day shoot, most of which was shot in one little bathroom stall! It was a real learning lesson for me and I’m excited to tackle more screen work in future. So proud of this and feeling very lucky to have met these beautiful artists during uni, and to have found lasting friendships and future collaborators from this. The link is in my bio if you feel like having a watch! 🫶🏽

𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘞𝘦𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘐𝘵 is an ode to female friendship, girlhood and self. It’s about being sixteen, feeling lost in your own body, and the friendships that both break you apart and hold you up. It’s about being at war with yourself and not knowing how to ask for help. There’s no perfect resolution, because healing isn’t simple. At its heart, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘞𝘦𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘐𝘵 about connection, and the small, quiet moments that remind us we don’t have to carry everything alone. #ShortFilm #IndieFilm #FilmCommunity #DirectorLife #SupportindieFilm #CinemaLovers #WomenInFilm #UKFilm #FilmmakersOfInstagram #ShortFilmDirector #FilmFestival

Meet the crew🎞️ Damilola Raji is an actor, writer, director, and camera operator currently in her final year studying Film at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL). With a strong background in camera work from projects like War Games (2024) and It’s Not Me, It’s You (2025) and Get Back Season (2025) she’s now stepping into creating her own original stories. Drawn to complex, deeply human portrayals of women, she aims to explore girlhood, friendship, love, and the unspoken moments that shape us. The Weight of It represents a significant new chapter, a deeply personal film that she produced, wrote, and directed, drawing on everything she has learned to date. #WomenInFilm #BlackBritishFilmmakers #UKFilmmaker #ShortFilmDirector #IndieFilmmaker #SupportIndieFilm #BlackCreatives #BritishFilm #StudentFilmmaker #YoungFilmmakers
