Grateful for the opportunity to serve as a panelist for the Minds Matter Social Career Incubator at USC Hybrid High School Prep, speaking on Creative Careers: Art, Animation & Graphic Design.

It was an honor to join fellow industry professionals Thomas Brillante, Sean Flinn, and Shawn Borsky to share our experiences and offer insight into navigating creative careers.

During the discussion, I reflected on my journey from studying Visual Development in college to working in the animation industry today. I spoke about the importance of embracing every stage of the journey, building genuine relationships through networking, seeking mentorship, creating your own opportunities, and remembering that there isn’t just one path to success in the creative industry.

I want to thank @freshest.produce for recommending me for this opportunity after seeing my work at the @hoodlinmania Mind Control event.

And thank you to @mindsmattersocal and @uschybridhighcollegeprep for creating a space where students can learn directly from professionals across the creative industry. It was a privilege to be part of such an inspiring conversation.

Hoodlin Mania: Mind Control was different.

Over 50+ people came together and poured their time, energy, and resources into building something real. From the visuals to the games, animation, merch, and everything in between… this was a full world brought to life.

Proud of the team that made this happen. This wasn’t easy, but we made it work.

And this is just the beginning.

We’re building this into an annual takeover, where everything Hoodlin comes together under one roof… gaming, animation, toys, content, merchandise, and more.

We’re only going up from here.

Stay tuned for what’s next from the Hoodlins.

I’m beyond excited to officially tease The Hoodlins Series!

This hybrid show will bring the mischievous, wild, and adult humored world of the Hoodlins to life. With content geared toward Adult Swim audiences, it’s going to be an unforgettable ride—so buckle up! This is just the start of something truly generationally changing for animation!

To kick things off, I partnered with the amazing art department at CSUN this semester, working alongside 12 incredibly talented animation students. Together, we developed the look, style, and foundation of the series.

This wouldn’t have been possible without an all-star team by my side:
Brandon Dean Johnson - Creator/Director (yours truly)
Matthew Goodman - Producer
Justin Babb - Storyboard Supervisor
Marco Bernard - 2D Concept Supervisor
Eric Juno - 3D Supervisor

Big shoutout to the CSUN students who crushed it:
Michelle, Jane, Rodrigo - Storyboard Artists
Gavin, Leanna, Maria, Ray - 2D Concept Artists
Bryant, David, Jake, Manuel, Luis - 3D Animators
This is just the beginning, and I can’t wait to show y’all the full thing down the road. Get ready for this hostile takeover!

This past weekend was truly special. As the creator of the Hoodlins, being a part of the @fayettevillewoodpeckers Arts in the Ballpark event in my hometown was nothing short of incredible. We brought the Hoodlins to life with DIY hats, custom jerseys, and a whole lot of energy, but what made it even more meaningful was the chance to uplift local artists and support Black Artist Forward.

This event wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing collaboration of the Woodpeckers, affiliates of the Houston Astros, Distinctly Fayetteville, and the unwavering support of our community. To see the stadium filled with creativity and to know that we raised funds for such an important cause—it’s moments like these that remind me why I started this journey.

And guess what? This is just the beginning. There’s so much more Hoodlin madness on the horizon, including some exciting new animated projects. Stay tuned for what’s next—this is a hostile takeover!

Thank you to everyone who made this possible, and let’s keep building something amazing together.
