Finally got up the nerve to call @samvillahair and invite him to @therainbowconvention 2026! 😮‍💨

At TRC Awards, we have our Lifetime Achievement Award that is given to a pillar of the industry once a year. Someone who has earned every bit of the platform they are on, not just because of the outstanding hair they do, but for their efforts to trailblaze in the industry, lead by example, and help guide stylists to greatness. Year one, we surprised @rebeccataylorhair with the award for being the ultimate stylist’s stylist and helping to teach and lead others to find balance. Year two, we chose @tishandsnooky, founders of @manicpanicnyc @manicpanicpro for being the first creative color to exist because so many pro stylists started off by playing with Manic Panic long before we were licensed. 🥹 Many of us got our training wheels in cutting by watching @samvillahair on YouTube, so it was only a matter of time before we asked Sam Villa to accept this award.

And literally, it was a matter of time. Three years ago when I started TRCA, I was researching who was the platform artist that had been licensed the longest, and Sam Villa’s name popped up because at the time he had been doing hair for 47 years! That meant by 2026, @samvillahair would have been doing hair for FIFTY YEARS, so I put it on my vision board that by year 3, we were going to build @therainbowconvention to something significant enough that he would show up in person to accept the award.

So…do you think he said yes?! 👀
