we did @riot_fest again! thank you to everyone who supported, in person and from a distance; I wish you knew how much that support pushed us through that rain!

on a longer note… personal congratulations are funny. I struggle with accepting them sometimes knowing how big the village is that contributes to everything we do. playing with a band, even for solo songs, makes that truth so much more evident. my confidence & pride this weekend went far beyond anything I’ll ever be able to do. thanks absolutely have to go to the boys first.

thank you to @therobbyrob3 for saying everything that moves you with your whole chest, leading the charge. if it wasn’t clear what kinda band we are: we stand for the liberation of Palestine, Lawndale, Congo, Roseland, Burkina Faso, Garfield Park, Rwanda, Cameroon, Uganda, the obviously wrongly convicted, the guys, & all oppressed people.

thank you to @disc2.wav for being a spark of joy & a Swiss Army knife. I know I can always count on you, & you can always count on me. the love you treat everyone with never goes unnoticed.

thank you to @kiquemusiq for the calm aggression you carry everywhere you go. your focus, discipline, compassion, heart, technical acumen, presence, & friendship forever inspire me.

@real.kenny.black, for being one of my best friends & making time to do the cool things, even knowing how booked & overworked you are. the space you create with your talent & intentionality has always demonstrated how deeply you understand what matters most about community.

I’m proud to be from Lawndale. I’m proud of my band. I’m proud we stood for oppressed people, and that if you checked any of our files, you’d see we do that everyday. it’s easy to perform for resume points, but for the second half of my 10 years performing, I’m proud we all focused on being around for, building community with, and showing up for each other.

we are not being outworked, outorganized, or outperformed. we are not out of place, out of sight, or out of mind. we’re right where we’re supposed to be, and everyone supporting us has a piece of that.

love y’all, see y’all soon 🤞🏾🖤
