"Mid-Michigan's DJ scene has a new event with hip-hop, soul and R&B"

Just because the temperatures are dropping doesn't mean the music has to stop. As fall settles in and winter starts creeping closer, there are still lots of ways to get out, warm up and enjoy some great sounds.

Indoor venues keep the energy alive with live bands bringing the noise, while DJs spin hot tracks that keep the dance floor moving long after the sun goes down. Whether you're in the mood to catch a favorite local act, discover a new band or spend the night dancing to a great mix, the colder months offer lots of reasons to get out and enjoy the music.

A downtown event built around the music
Mid-Michigan has a DJ scene with lots of range. On any given night, you can find someone spinning something unique — from hip-hop and R&B to funk and soul, the city's music crowd has options when it comes to finding the right sound. Now, a new recurring event is bringing that energy to downtown Lansing.

D4E Presents: The Culture is taking over Jollof Afro Caribbean Lounge, giving music lovers another place to gather and catch some great DJs. The event takes place every other Sunday, with the next one scheduled for Oct. 25 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The idea behind The Culture is simple but solid: bring people together around the music they love and create a space where those sounds can be heard. Expect DJs spinning hip-hop, beats, soul, G-funk, R&B and more. It's a chance to hear local DJs do what they do best while giving the community another reason to get together over music.

The rotating lineup includes some familiar names from the DJ scene, including Big Sherm, DJ Muzik, DJ Dolo and DJ Mastermind, among others. With its rotating schedule and focus on music that continues to bring people together, The Culture offers another way to experience the local DJ scene. For those looking to spend a Sunday afternoon and evening surrounded by hip-hop, soul, R&B and related sounds, Jollof Afro Caribbean Lounge is a place to check out.
