New words in HCI. This is Hamza’s story, but it is also the story of countless civilians exposed to white phosphorus whose names and lives rarely reach us beyond the footnotes of mainstream reporting. I write about the human life behind the headlines, and the international humanitarian law that sits beneath them: the rules meant to govern war, protect civilians, and give legal language to suffering that the world most often only witnesses from a distance.

More long-form in HCI. Describing what happened at Al-Shifa Hospital (and explaining those very clear war crimes under the Rome Statute) made this such a painful piece to write, and is why it took so long to complete. We all saw those tanks at the hospital gate on our screens, but this details what exactly happened inside. And it’s worse than anything your own mind can independently conjure. I’m not sure that any combination of words is sufficient to capture this kind of evil. Yet somehow people like Dr. Rajaa Musleh, having actually lived through that absolute horror, still show up everyday with their boots on the ground to be of service to others. I’m so honored to have shared this deployment with her.

This trip changed the way I look at a lot of things. It’s one thing to hear about what these families are going through, but it’s different when you’re there seeing it yourself. I’ll never forget the people I met and the moments we shared.

So many families still need our help. Donation link in bio. 🇵🇸

Claps for the people making a difference 👏👏👏👏

Every meal delivered, every family supported, and every life touched is part of a bigger effort, made possible by the people who care and the people who give.

This is your generosity in action. 🥹🤍

Together, we packaged 100 boxes filled with essential food supplies for 100 displaced Gazan families here in Jordan.

100 boxes. 100 families. 100 reminders that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a difference.

Every single donation helped make this possible. To everyone who donated, shared, or supported this mission in any way, THANK YOU. You helped put food on someone’s table and reminded these families that they have not been forgotten.

Our work isn’t done. If you’d like to help us continue supporting displaced families, the donation link is in my bio. 🤍

I may not be their mother, but I am a mother. And if there’s one thing motherhood has taught me, it’s that you don’t have to give birth to a child to love them like your own. For the moments I had with them, I wanted every child to feel the warmth, safety, and love that every child deserves. 🤍

Please consider sponsoring an orphan. Your generosity can make a world of difference in a child’s life.

Link in my bio to sponsor or donate. No amount is too small. 🥹🤍

* @hcicanada deployment in Egypt *
Nasser, the student at the front, 12, is deeply inspiring. This picture was captured as he sits in class. Nasser was medically evacuated from Gaza due to the injury on his neck, as shown. As he left his home to seek bread for his family, the Israeli government targeted him directly. His smile and keffiyeh radiate pride for his people and his absolute persistence and resilience. Despite the occupation and his hardship, he remains eager to learn and build his future. His immense strength will always awe and inspire me. ❤️

This school is fully funded by @hcicanada to deliver a Palestinian curriculum to elementary and middle school students medically evacuated from Gaza and Rafah to Cairo, Egypt. The school’s purpose is to recover the education these students lost over the past few years. These innocent students are real survivors of genocide and ethnic cleansing of their people and will be referenced in future history books. They deserve to pursue their wildest dreams just like the rest of the world.

May ٱللَّٰه grant each child that has been displaced from their homeland immense prosperity and the ability to bring healing to their families, their people, and all of the world. If you would like to also fund their future growth and success, donate to @hcicanada at the link in my bio :)

Every child here has a story and every single one of them has a dream… HCI provides schooling for children evacuated from the war and want to continue their education. We visited this school that currently serves 250 students (grades 1-9 only). They teach science and math in both #reels Arabic and English. #viralreeĺs #humanity #reels #egypt
