Life lately has been well… crazy and an absolute blast. Over the past two weeks, I’ve said goodbye to two of the organizations that allowed me to become the person I am today, @texas4h and @texasffa, and also got to be Representative Shaw one more time at Texas 4-H Congress. The amount of gratitude I have to these organizations is unmatched and it has been an absolute blessing to be a part of both of them 🌽🍀! But that’s not where the fun ends because I got to see old friends and celebrate family at my amazing cousin, @libbers13, wedding to @pschaneman! Congrats to all and see ya around!

MEET YOUR TEXAS 4-H COUNCIL PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER KADE LAWRENCE AND YOUR HEALTH & SAFETY OFFICER COOPER MAU!!

Howdy y’all, I’m Kade Lawrence from District 1 and Randall County.

My 4-H story began nine years ago when I began feeding and caring for pigs to exhibit at the local county stock show. This experience taught me the fundamentals of responsibility and trustworthiness, laying the groundwork for who I am today. Through years of dedication and hard work, I was fortunate to win the SALE Beef and Meat Science Skillathon contests, the SALE and HLSR and TCFA Commercial Steer Shows. These competitions inspired me to work on becoming a public speaker and to become more involved in leadership roles throughout my community, which has led me to become the person I am today, giving back to the members around me and working to lead others forward.

Hey y’all, I’m Cooper Mau from District 11 and Fayette County.

Like many, my 4-H journey started with my older siblings, I am a first generation Texan, but luckily, I joined 4-H in the 3rd grade. Like any logical 3rd grader, I started with an easy project, lambs. However, I soon realized there was more to 4-H than meets the eye and got involved in food and nutrition, consumer education, and livestock judging. The pivotal moment was after my brother caught a calf scramble, which marked the true beginning of my 4-H story. Building our ranch and Simbrah heifer herd has been a significant part of my life, boosting my growth, network, and confidence. Over the years, I took on more responsibility, led presentations, and expanded my horizons. Now, as I enter my senior year, I've made lifelong friends and look forward to the final chapter of my 4-H journey.

MEET EMI AND MADISON, YOUR AT-LARGE REPRESENTATIVES!!

Hey y’all, I’m Emi Schooler from District 1 and Potter County.

4-H is not just showing. I started out only showing livestock, but once I got into middle school, I realized all the different things that I could do in 4-H. I started out small on a food challenge team and competed in some livestock judging contests. It wasn’t until I got into high school and our county got a new agent that I was exposed to the countless opportunities. Since then, I have applied for new leadership roles, got involved in projects and contests that I didn’t even know were a thing, and have experienced things I never would have gotten to do if I didn’t leave the show barn.

Hey y’all, I’m Madison Chaloupka from District 2 and Lubbock County.

One evening, I went with my two older brothers to a monthly 4-H meeting. I can still remember opening the door into the cold building and hearing the loud buzz of the club talking. The first topic of the evening was horse quiz bowl and, being the pony obsessed kid I was, I was hooked! 4-H is a generational activity that started with my Mom, aunt and uncles. It is now passed down to my siblings and I. It has been a program that is a “family affair” for all of us and allows each of us to explore a variety of interests. We have found some of these interests and we learned to support each other anytime a team member or partner is needed for another sibling's interest. One project that has really changed each one of us in the family is public speaking. Mom said I HAD to participate in public speaking, and I was not a fan of this decision! However, she would not take “no” for an answer, from any of us. I am definitely glad I “chose” to explore this area. The verbal and written skills developed, poise, and confidence have really made me who I am. Furthermore, these skills have helped me share my passion for horses and pushed me into becoming the 4-Her and leader I am today.

MEET JUSTIN, YOUR DISTRICT 1 REPRESENTATIVE!!!

Howdy y’all, I’m Justin Hill from District 1 and Moore County!

My first experience that led me into being hooked on 4-H is waking up one morning and watching all of the ladybug larvae eat aphids instead of weeding the garden like I was supposed to be doing. Whenever I first joined 4-H, I was kind of like these larvae - energetic, excited for new experiences, and willing to push myself outside of my comfort zone. Over the years, I've matured like the larvae would. I've gone through my pupal stage where I learned about my leadership style and how that fits with other styles, continued to develop myself and my career interests, and built relationships all throughout Texas 4-H. At the end of my 4-H career, I've started to become more and more like the adult ladybug. I've gained all of these experiences that have made me the leader and person I am today through some part of 4-H, and I want to put the youth of Texas 4-H first, so they have access to everything that makes Texas 4-H great.
