In 1971, the Indian government tried translating mountains of dry Census data into smaller, friendlier volumes called A Portrait of Population, something it had never done before. But why did an already overworked government end up making wacky visualizations and hand-drawn charts, and why does a full-blown overpopulation panic have something to do with it?

Joined NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF DESIGN just to study Product design , but ended up learning things for life , things that changed my perspectives towards alot of things , overcame my insecurities, my old habits and created a canvas thats all ready to get painted .

So… I wrote a book. And @ditiiee designed a cover that brilliantly captures its essence.

Nine Lives of Sophia is an exploration of womanhood in all its ebbs and flows. Of women who do things that society labels not womanlike. Of intimate thoughts, feelings and desires that get judged, ridiculed and swept under the rug. For women who get punished for expressing their true selves with no apology.

My hope is that anyone who picks it up and reads, finds the courage to: speak up, share lived experiences, and give voice to their unwomanlike thoughts. Above it all, live life fiercely and outside the confines of the male gaze.

Some snaps from the work-cation hosted by @14_trees at Nrityagram, earlier this year. The week long retreat was filled with insightful nature walks, design discussions, painting, exhibition of finesse by the Oddisi dancers at Nrityagram and verryyyy yummy food

It was truly wonderful to take a break from the rut of working on my never ending grad project and spend some time in nature. I had the opportunity of meeting so many wonderful people, and have eye-opening conversations on ecological preservation. The incredibly kind folks of 14trees and their daily unofficial lecture series brought back my love for wildlife and botanical studies which I have continued to stay in touch with since.

Big thank you to Medha for inviting me! Can’t wait for the next one :’)
